Always about religion

Amoud
By Amoud

I was just reading a post about Muslims not being allowed birthday parties. I am assuming (and apologize for assumptions before hand) this person isnt muslim.

Here's the thing, if a muslim isnt allowed a birthday party, why does anyone else give a rats a** about it? He never had a birthday party, kind of like a cat you neuter, he dont miss what he never had. Not having a birthday party is not something you should call Amnesty International about.

A muslim can post something on here about... lets say how christians will kiss the feet during the washing of the feet. Should Muslims care? Of course not, they dont do it, why comment?

Rastafarians smoke marajuana as part of their religion, who gives a toss, I don't do it, it doesnt effect me. Hindu's worship about a million different things... the point is?

Anyone who posts this stuff is just adding fuel to the fire to get crap started.

Haunted, Im glad you enjoy my sense of humour...that makes the two of us :P

Jaws looks like a mini porcupine now...feeding him a concoction of hormonal growth pills...his colour is a bit off (blueish-green) one eye is the size of a marble, the other, well perhaps I should get him a patch.. but hey he's doing this for his fellow goldfish. Good cause. Down with the piranhas.

heero nothing wrong to ask "why people do certain things and others don't??" ur example was in culture issue not religion one, because when it came to religion so answer is easy "it's your different believes" when its social or cultured one u can wonder, which i believe (tallg) wants to say as well.

by the way about men holding hands, the truth is men holding hands "only holding hands :D)" it had a kind of cultured history like ya men might do so, in middle east you will find men kissing chicks or each other shoulder and they are not (gays) actually with no sexual meaning. i realized it's same like relation with children, in middle east when people see a babe or child they may play with him kissing him which will be translated for a western mind(not every body but culture) its kind of abuse. It’s different culture and this is the true that weird sexual needs weren’t a main point of life in Middle East.

",) but in your case and what i'm hearing here and there these men might be gays as well, but as i explained not every body do so is gay.

for me i don't think it's a healthy habits, holding hands, kissing even hug between men isn't a nice thing, confirming by the way that there is nothing to do between Islam and those habits. its a social ones.

I am not against the idea of discussing Islam, quite the opposite, it is some of the comments that got me.

LOL

Reiterate:

why people do certain things and others don't

And I was asking if men holding hands with men is culture 'round here coz I ain't used to that in my country...

Sure, if you want to stay in your safe little bubble you can go through life not questioning why people do certain things and others don't, but a lot of people like to know what else is going on out there

So if you agree, why are you making a fuss about people discussing an element of Islam?

I agree Tallag... perhaps you are missing a wee bit in the middle... I could rant but am actually feeling worn out from all the hating PM's I am getting these days :)

There was an email circulated by a certain group... pics of feet washing and feet kissing in a papal ceremony... few of the comments were not so nice... s**t hit the fan... stuff like that.

Geez people are getting over-sensative on QL these days. I found the thread about Muslim's not celebrating birthdays very interesting, and it taught me lots I didn't know about Islam. Shouldn't that make you pleased Amoud, not p*ssed?

Sure, if you want to stay in your safe little bubble you can go through life not questioning why people do certain things and others don't, but a lot of people like to know what else is going on out there.

The whole point of QL is to help people learn about Qatar, and Islam is bound to be a part of that.

Righto Luciano, thats the point of the thread... I couldnt believe the birthday party post.

Dear all, most of topics posted about Islamic religion and Muslims made me feel wired about the way you guys been treated from others, I don't know who is the right side? but these posts give me negative feedback that its not so peaceful where you live, and where I may join, I don’t want to take care that much while socializing with people, I'm a Muslim 26 years old (mature enough) and I didn't ever think I'll find topic of argue about Muslims and birth day parties, I don't have one only if I don't have money ",). I'm not saying Islam support or reject cuz it's a social occasion. And yes not some but all of Muslims celebrate Prophet Mohamed "Salla ALLAH alayh wasalam" birth day, even its official vacation in all Islamic Countries.

The Moral that these topics are against the truth i used to have in my self experience that we Muslim don't judge or getting involved in other religion business” washing feet or not”, or let me adjusted "to confirm my opinion is not Muslims only do so" people from different religion they may have conflicts or don't feel comfortable to others customs but at the end u don't practice it, so care for your own business as u do believe about it.

Peace Peace Peace , your religion is your decision like all decisions nature u r the one involved

Bottom line in everything is that whatever you do behind closed doors is your business ... not mine and I really dont mind when I get a wee bit nosey or over opinionated regarding peoples personal lives that they tell me to mind my business.

I should start posting "Can you believe that Non-Muslims dont celebrate Eid" lol. It is an outrage... abusive to the extent you will have to spend your childrens college funds on therapy.

I think your a kind mum to leave out the clowns. (They give nightmares) Have you heard of the fear of clowns?

Not sure, those big floppy shoes are kind of sexy.

I've been reading your threads and it's nice to see you out there saying what you think. Labda helps with that sense of humor! (Jaws growing spikes yet?)

We don't do the birthdays either (adult)since we are Shaman but we do Christmas and a celebration for daughter's sake....

Amoud, LOL....you got PM's huh??! You have all the fun!

Im actually pretty glad my PM's are from people who mean well, not personal attacks. Cause thats what they are: personal attacks. Do you respond to them? LOL. If they want to abuse you let them do so on the main forum.

Re birthdays...Iv grown up with a Dad who made a huuuuge deal out of birthdays. And because of all THAT attention I just like things nice and quiet. But Id probably do the same as him when God willing I have kids.

lol Labda, you know it is ironic how the human mind works... for instance if I rant about something that happened to me I can get a million different posts about unrelated stuff people cook up in their brains.

I got a bunch of PM's about being anti-islamic blah blah blah. If you read my posts I never mention religion as a reason for anything, and here is the kicker... I am a convert (Nazi convert according to some)

My idea is to stir them up, makes people think. I have gotten the birthday thing a lot from my family, but they dont live here and I dont understand how it is child abuse if I dont have a clown and balloons on my kids b-day.

I love this site...

Amoud you naughty girl, I'm surprised this hasn't stirred people up.

Well for one these kinds of threads arouse peoples curiosity (what they don't celebrate birthdays? why????). Men (and women) are curious beasts. If we only posted threads about things we all had in common like uhmmm the need to inhale oxygen, lol, how interesting would QL be?

Canandians....!!!! :P

Several Muslims DO in fact celebrate their birthdays, some muslim countries even celebrate the birth of the prophet even though that is generally frowned upon in the GCC. Who cares in the end, to each his own.

I'm christian and I stopped celebrating birthdays when I reached 40 ;o)
