i am an indian and i got a job in doha. i am waiting for the visa. i was asked to submit my original passport for applying visa. as i got the appointment order from the overseas compamy through the recruitment agency in chennai i have submitted my original passport for applying visa. it is almost three weeks now i have not get the visa. in my appointment letter agreement i have to join in the job on or before 1.9.2008. some one replied me in my earlier question that i can work only with my passport and appointment agreement and without any visa. is it true?

since i have submitted my original passport what should i do if i got any opportunity from other overseas employees?

You should be very careful while giving your ORIGINAL PASSPORT to anyone. You pls check the appointment letter, contact the company in the overseas, and confirm the company and the offer is genuine. If its genuine, pls wait until u get the passport as without visa/passport, you can't come here. best wishes...

Why u guys are even educated still do the same mistake of handing over the original passport? No country requires original passport for issuing the Visa. Just a Photocopy is enough. Even Indian Government is advertising about the procedures for oversees job in many medias. learn that first.

Try to the get back the original passport as early as possible

working with out the work permit or visa is illegal and not permitted.

If the processing of Visa is taking time and you have the contact details of the company, you call call them to confirm the status. Otherwise, its the agent who should keep you informed.

You cannot apply for any other visa unless you have the passport with you.
