Good idea...but what use would be the greenery if you cant enjoy it due to excessive humidity.

It think it would be a better option and even cheaper to build a glass dome right over the city with central cooling.

1. This would keep all the personal A/C out.

2. People can open the windows and let in sunlight which will ofcourse will be filtered through the glass dome.

3.There will be almost zero dust.

4. All kinds of plants & trees will thrive in such a controled climate.

5. People will finally be able to walk and children will be able to utilise the parks even at noon time.

6. Sports can be uplifted and budding athelets can train for longer duration.

I am sorry Da ... i have my contact lenses on, i guess i need to get a new one ...

Dhow trip again would be nice ... but this time can you make sure the company to prepare the food for us. I remember the hassle last time that you have to run around the get the food because they let us down in the last mins.

And i want the inland sea trip as well in that Marwan's camp i went with my mum. Maybe the last outdoor trip we can make it as a 'going away party trip' for spicemom?

I miss the green as much as anyone, but terraforming a planet takes forever. To accomplish all this by 2010? -- 2 years away?

This is after all the world's largest gravel quarry. First of all, plants need topsoil. That takes hundreds of years to produce. Then you need rainfall. We certainly have water around (and humidity) but I don't understand the meterology enough to understand why it doesn't rain in the summer--I think it has to do with the moist air going over cooler ground so that the moist air is forced below the dew point and forms precipitate. Normally vegetation or tall mountains take care of this process.

Can't blame a country for dreaming though.

I just wish the authorities would plant more trees in Qatar. It is surprising to see certain places with a thick foliage (plot - muntaza garden).

I wouldn't mind being responsible to take care of one sapling. The world would be a greener place if we all grew one tree atleast.

Don't knw abt tht report though - Will need to have glass green houses and drip irrigation.
