Illicit relations
There are always posts relating to this kind of thing here... just thought I would share the latest from the Gulf Times.
Two face jail term for illicit relation
AN INDONESIAN housemaid and a Lebanese man have been sentenced to one suspended year imprisonment and subsequent deportation following their conviction of maintaining an illicit relationship.
The two were caught on April 12 from an abandoned house in the Al-Nuaim area in the north of the country.
Narrating his relationship with the woman, the man said he first met her at a shopping mall and gave her his mobile number.
“Later I bought a mobile handset with a Hala connection for her and our relationship developed to love.
“I also bought some gold jewellery for her and I intended to marry her,” he said. I used to take her from her sponsor's house in my car for a trip to the Corniche.”
He confessed that he had taken her to the same abandoned house from where they were nabbed on an earlier occasion also.
The woman also gave an identical statement to the authorities.
The court found little contradiction in the statement of the policemen too.
The decision is still open for appeal.
Here is an earlier article relating to the same thing:
Couple arrested
A 31-year-old Syrian teacher and his 39-year-old Filipina girlfriend have appeared in court after being arrested in a car park at the Sealine Resort on March 31.
The couple, who claim they will marry once the 39-year-old Filipina’s divorce comes through, deny any wrongdoing. They told a court this week that the officer who arrested them had caught them while they were talking.
The case has been adjourned until October to allow the Syrian to appoint a lawyer.
Well they mind when they get locked up!
It is no crime. You have to live with it.
britexpat - "Having worked in the Middle East for a while, I have seen that many men "use" these women whilst working here and have no intention of marrying them."
If the women in question don't mind being "used" where's the crime?
thats why qtel have more business. lol.
Yippee, Yippeee, its Bombay gin for me!
whatever marhabtain....im outta here... time to go...
Ooooppppppppppppppppps Shes a corker! Yippee, Yippeee, its Bombay gin for me!
Alex, Alvi, Novita and blubbercat! Where is you all tonite? Yippee, Yippeee, its Bombay gin for me!
So it's also easy to quit a relation: just don't buy any more Hala cards.
I love this bit....“Later I bought a mobile handset with a Hala connection for her and our relationship developed to love"...wow the powers of a Hala card!! Forget flowers and fine dining..a Hala card is all you need for a leg over!!!
Dating is prohibited in Qatar!! ;) It's okay, there's a known scarcity of decent men anyway.... csi
In today's story, it sounds like one of the things that got them convicted is that they're stories of the "illicit" affair were so consistent.
Can love really be so blind?

Since Allah has given me a brain, it would seem like a sin not to use it.
coz for me..illicit relationship is when one of the pair is either married/engaged or already in another relationship.
The two pairs are of different nationalities and was found/nabbed in a compromising location/situation.
My two dirhams worth of opinion....
People here are well aware of the consequences if they are caught inflagranti.
This is not a new subject to Qatar or even the Gulf and even if you go to Ajman in the UAE you can be arrested if you are in a car with a different nationality.
To the second illicit relationship: I have difficulty in believing that they will marry as I think divorce is still not accepted in the Philippines at the most a marriage anullment and this only after long consultation periods.
that ... it is just both fault ...
The man for having his own family and instead of bringing them here [sure he can, or how can he have relations here, spending money and sending money back home] he choose to keep them there using a lame excuse as the high costs of life here.
The lady for believing in such men, sometimes she knows that he is married and that makes her [surprisingly] running after him more ...
What is happening won't solve anything as some said, it's common outside the middle east so why would they expect them to stop? The solution and the sense of responsibility, sensibility should come out from these people ...

What issues? Who were these people hurting?
Having worked in the Middle East for a while, I have seen that many men "use" these women whilst working here and have no intention of marrying them.
As a judge, I would therefore ensure that they get married in order to "legalize" their relationship.
Such raids and arrests have to be made to put things back in place.
Qatar is getting bad to worse with such issues which are common as morning tea in the west.
I don't understand. Who were they hurting?
has any right to do so not unless they will caught you bloody handed or whatever ... You can't do that just because you assumed or thought that or based on their intentions which is hidden within them and you got no idea about it ... [referring to the second incident]
