well,

so u know, i've visited india.. & in some states & some companies offers, u get 100 SMS free per day & u get 30 Mintues of calling FREE PER DAY...

but u have to pay higher monthly rent..

i wish Q-Tel do something like that..

aaanyway..

all i care about is the 3G & the iPhone 3G.. u can use the internet anywhere in Qatar at speed of 2 mbps.. can u imagine that..

u can use VOIP applications over the 3G network..

VOIP = Voice Over Internet Protocol

u can make cheap internet calls from softwares like Skype & SMSListo ... etc..

..

all of that.. & u have a 16GB the best iPOD there is..

..

so.. really.. 3k is a good price if there's a 3G network..

Well perhaps their running costs are lower or the fee they paid for the license was a lot less. Plus it comes down to supply and demand - if people will pay a certain price for something why bother selling it for less.

yeah, cost is always a relative measure.

Its amazing that poor developing countries like us are giving such a low price for the services they offer. As i know they still have a profit out of one txt message.

I think that's $200 with a $30 monthly contract smoke.

I think Vodafone is part owned by Qatar Foundation, rather than directly by Qtel. I still wouldn't be expecting that much cheaper rates though.

seriously how much are they being sold for in the USA? the website says its around 200$ why cant someone from the US or anyone going to the US bring it and come..i'm sure it can be unlocked here for whatever the fees and it will still cost you less than 2grand. am i right or what?

Oh and whats the freaking use of Vodafone coming to qatar if they are just here for the freaking name and Qtel owns their arses? Zeus Christ they still want to control the freaking market.

0.45QR per txt is cheaper than the UK. Prices for nearly everything in Qatar are comparable with places like the UK or US rather than Sri Lanka or India. Hence I personally find their phone charges reasonable.

that's heartbreaking my friend. I thought Vodafone will be a good competitor to the un-reasonable tariffs set up by Q-Tel. Yeah it SUCKS!

For a little comparison, here we pay 0.45QR for a SMS, where as in Sri Lanka its just 1 Rupee (0.03 QR)and i bet its even cheaper in countries like India.

With the profits like this, No wonder they can buy Vodafone 100% in near future!

i work with Q-Tel ..

Vodafone will be launched in Feb 2009..

did u know that Q-Tel bought 55% of Vodafone-Qatar..?

so, u use Vodafone & Q-Tel will still profits from them..

hehe..

this means Vodafone will increase it's prices more than any Vodafone around the world..

it SUCKS big time..

but still.. 3G networks will be all over Qatar.. we can use all of iPhone's power & functions..

Master_mas> trust me, iPhone will give you much more than u'll get from INNOV8 or anyother. I have iPhone 2G and there are no comparison to it. Guess it will launch here in Qatar officially with Vodafone.. But the problem is no body knows when..

hey,

the cheapest i phone 3G 16GB i found in Qatar is 3,200 QRs.. including the Turbosim to use Q-Tel SIM card..

& the cheapest iPhone 3G 16GB i fount from well knows trustable online seller is $799 = QRs 2,844 .. including the Turbosim also.. & including Shipping charges to Qatar..

i can save 356 QRs ... so, it's not a big deal.. i'll just buy it from here at the end of the month..

until that time i am lookin at the new Samsung i8510 INNOV8 & Sony Ericsson XPERIA X1

maybe i'll change my mind..

to get a 3G iphone for less than 3000, you may be able to by a USED second hand one but if you are offered one NEW for 2000 expect to get ripped off.

If a NOKIA N95 is 2600 rials here in Qatar do you honestly think a 3G Iphone would be cheaper.

Also note the 3G iphone is not unlocked yet and needs a sim adaptor to work here, people are selling these for 275 rials here. So add that to the cost.

but in EBay they r sellin it for 1,600 to 2,000 QRs..

but i'm not sure if i can trust em..

In Hong Kong they are currently being sold for 600 and 800 dollars un locked DIRECT from apple you simply can't find a legitimate phone for 2000 rials sorry.

In the UK Pay as You Go phones are 2522 Rials . Plus you need the turbo sim to make it work here.
