DVT or not!!!!
By kiwikitten •
I have been to a medical centre and had an doppler done on my leg and have been diagnosed as having a dvt - then sent along to Hamad to receive anti-coagulant treatment they did another doppler and now I am told I don't have a DVT, hence no treatment commenced. Now I am unsure what to do who to believe. I am a nurse so I know the dangers of a DVT - but what do u do when u are given two totally different diagnoses.
Hi,
Doppler ultrasonography is a good test but also quite subjective. U would need to be seen by a vascular surgeon or intensivist who would look into the complete picture including symps n signs, risk factors etc. There are more tests that can be done and Hamad has got facilities for all of them...If they had any doubt they would have investigated further as doppler is just the prelim.and least invasive of the lot...
So would suggest that u get a consult with an MD and decide ..may just neeed some aspirin!!!
Take care!
would one suggest that I go - not too familiar with all these places yet
kiwi, get a third opinion. Hopefully, 2 of the 3 will agree.
Get another diagnoses?
