Moving to Qartar with babies
My husband has possibly got a job in Qatar and so we are in the process of deciding if we move there or not, just wondered if anyone else has moved there with young children. We have a 5month old baby and a 2 year old. All the info I see is about schooling but wondered if anyone else moved there with children so young. How easy things like medicine and formula etc are to get. Thanks.
One of the brands they have id Pediasure..
Karicare is not available in Doha and not too sure about Heinz Nurture.
Lots and lots of babies around, a better site for women with young kids is www.expatwoman.com presently we are part of the dubai forum.
Wrong post.

There are definitely some medicines that are not available here. I don't remember what they are offhand (sorry), but you'll want to stock up a bit and carry them in your luggage so they don't heat up too much.
There are plenty of expats here with young children. . .and plenty having babies here as well. I think things can be a bit more difficult to find, so it's worth shopping ahead if you can. The toys here can be a bit junky, I've been told, so bring some toys for your kids to grow into. If they have something unique about them physically -- say, extra wide feet or a big belly-- buy ahead to get the stuff that you know will work. Driving is a pain in the butt here and you don't want to be hauling two kids all over town looking for something.
Take a look through your kitchen as well to see what you can't live without (e.g. real vanilla extract) and bring it with you. I brought Meringue Powder in large tins, vanilla, maple syrup, double-acting baking powder and all sorts of other things.
Unscented laundry detergent, if you use it, is something worth stocking up on. I have found it once and the box had already been opened; I purchased it nonetheless.
Anyway, I got away from your question but it still might be useful info for you.
Thats a huge help thanks, the main brands in my country are the Karicare and the Heinz Nuture. Always a bit more to think about when you have little ones, not just us to worry about. Thanks heaps for your help, sounds like the expat network is very supportive.
I think she is not asking for pay-related advice...
You get everything here, dont worry...and the state owned hospitals are good..we have a childrens emergency centre which is really good...(we had to rush there with our kids twice)..
if you are worried about availability of any particular brand of formula which u give ur kids, post it here, we can tell u whether it is available or not..

Good point, whats considered good salary too. As we have no idea.
with a good paying job, free accommodation, and you own a car you can live pretty good here.
You can get everything here like formula medicines etc..Your lucky that you children are young so transition is a lot easier than families who have older kids who need to adjust to new schools etc.
