it was written in my offer that they will approach my current and previous employers for references?

is this a normal procedure however i provide them during my interview with the original experiance certificates.!! actually i do not have any problem in that but i am afraid that this may get me problems with my current bank if they did so as i am not resigned yet also if they contact my previous employer everybody is going to know that i am going to qatar .
my problem is that the HR manager of the previous employer is a close friend to my current manager so if they reached him he will inform my manager that i'm going to leave before i submit my resignation.so what should i do?
or this is just a normal point in every offer
Thanks all, i do not have any problems regarding my educational certificates as i attest it by the ministry of forgien affairs and qatar embassy,
most companies conduct a random check on new employees, normally not employees are checked for references but it depends on lot of factors.
It is understandable the fact that your new employer wants to get some references about you. There were cases in Hamad Hospital (a while ago) with staff who was bringing fake certificates/diplomas and they actually didn't have anything in common with the job they were hired for.
But you can ask your new manager to not call your old company until you will not submit your resignation, I am sure he will understand, we had similar cases also in our company.
Goog luck!
This is standard operating procedure - the offer is contingent on getting a favourable reference. However, the HR manager at your previous employment has an ethical and possibly legal (depending on labour law in your country) to keep any such inquiry confidential. If he speaks to your current manager, he (and the company he works for) could be sued.
