Compound/building pools

Do you think it's safe enough to swim in those shared compound pools and pools in residential buildings/towers? Are there any sanitary rules that the owner/administrator of the estate must follow? Or is it just up to them if they are providing a pool or a swamp?

haha

Back in our place, there was a pool so acidic (during that time i didnt care about it)that when u open your eyes it burns like you swam in a pool of clorox (aka bleach). We didnt mind back then. instead, we used googles.

Workers are not skilled so I would not trust them on chlorine levels etc. You can get severly hurt as well, I would not take any chances. You can buy test kits.

That's basically what I've seen being used here for "cleaning" the pool. It's the miracle that turns a swamp into a perfectly LOOKING pool. But the test is a good idea, really. But I'm afraid that the maintenance people simply won't care if something is wrong :-/

Testing kit for pH and Chlorine level:

Recommended levels: pH 7.4-7.6, Cl2 1.5-2.0

High pH and Cl2 level causes your eyes to burn because the water is acidic. Lower pH and Cl2 level causes Algae to form and bacteria as well. Clarity of water is not to be used as baseline of cleanliness, as there are chemicals like Alum that pool maintenance people used to add that "sparkling" clean look at the pool. Send water sample to lab for testing of bacteria.

It's not because things are difficult that we don't dare, it's because we don't dare that makes things difficult!

I would suggest getting a testing kit and testing the water yourself, that is if you want to stay healthy.
