DOHA • The Kantahan sa Doha 2008 (Sing Out Doha) final competition will witness five of the best Filipino singers vie for the top award. The finalists were chosen during the semifinal round yesterday at the Hyatt Plaza Mall.

The seven semifinalists performed their chosen contest pieces amid the cheers of hundreds of members of the audience, mostly Filipinos who are singing fanatics. The finalists include Francisco Amorin, Joan Gamboa, Anna Liza Simbulas, Walter Antonio and Aladino Bulan.

"The final competition on December 8 will surely be stiff and exciting, and judges will surely find it hard to choose who the winner will be," said Loverine Fermino vocalist of 'Crosstown Band' and one of the judges.

Organised jointly by Pag-Iribang Bicolnon-Qatar (PIBQ) and Beats and Bytes Productions, the Grand Final will be held at the Qube together with the benefit concert of Filipina singer Judy Azur Estrada entitled 'Wish'. Proceeds of the event will benefit ABS-CBN's 'Bayanijuan Project.

"I think we have a very strong group of contenders this year basing on their backgrounds. Most of them have extensive experience in singing excelling in their respective genres. The audience will truly enjoy the event," said Neil Deladia, PIBQ President.

Big cash and gift prizes are up for grabs for the winners courtesy of Western Union, MediaCom-Qatar and Century Properties Group. The contest's venue sponsors are Hyatt Plaza, Central Café Restaurant and Qube while media partners are The Filipino Channel and The Peninsula Newspaper.
