I am a public secondary school teacher here in the Philippines for 13 years teaching social studies. I felt bored and want new environment and leave my comfort zone. I applied for a teaching job through worabroad.com and one agency replied my application. I have my visa now and just waiting for my job order. The agency is offering me 400USD free accomodation. Ok lang po ba na ituloy ko ito kasi sabi ng mga frends ko masyado daw mababa. Ang sa akin lang kasi gusto ko maranasan kung anu ang buhay abroad..... Suggestions plsssssssss!!!!!!!!!

from what I understood your job here is not a teacher but a private tutor or in other words a nanny, if I am not mistaken because I know of a filipina teacher here who has the same job as yours (private tutor)and her salary is 400 USD. She is staying at the employers house as a tutor and nanny as she is the one taking care to the child from the food she eats, get her ready to school, take her to school, pick up and doing some household chores. So you have to make sure first what really your job description as a "private tutor"is.

It's up to you to decide whether 400 USD salary will help your family or not.

400 USD is the salary of the filipina maids here. accomodation and all expenses inclusive I suppose because if not this salary is way to low.

Salamat Po,

too low, that range of salary is for salesperson in dept store. better to apply for a secretary here and you will get better package. around QR3500 - 6000.

look for another offer.

400 $ ?

u have been working as a teacher for 13 yrs , u shouldnt accept such small amount .

u wont be able to bring ur family , and u wont be able to send them money or save any .

even if they pay ur accomodation which might be a bed space only . this amount is very low here in Qatar .

what about transportation ? medical insurrance ? mobile ? food ? etc ...

either u stay in ur country or u find a better offer .

good luck

that is a very low salary. i would not recommend accepting the job and then reporting them, it's too risky. If you want the job, simply ask for more money (politely but firmly) Tell them you would love the job, but you would like to get xxx amount of money. I personally would want at least $800 USD per month if your housing and transportation is already paid for. If you need transportation, I would ask for even more. The worst thing that can happen is they say no, but you should not accept this low a salary. Good luck!

Hi, gud day! i advice u not to accept the offer the 400$ is a total salary of a domestic helper abroad, the minimum salary of a teacher here in doha 2000$ but it depends of the school. high living cost in doha maybe u cannot survive with 400$. and if u will work as a private tutor be carefull because as far as i know as a private tutor u will teach them inside your sponsor's house so of course your accomodation will also inside your sponsor's house, maybe not only teaching job maybe they will ask u also to do household job. So be carefull kasi po na experience ko ito when i come to doha and work as a private tutor.

Kabayan,

My Brotherly advise to you is to NOT accept the offer they are undermining your capability. Your compensation should be atleast min. QR 3000.00.

SALARY USD 400 is very low..

Even if they provide u with accomodation,

It wont be enough for u...

If u spend less/more..

$400 is nothing in qatar to meet ur basic needs..!

If 400USD is your salary; My best advice for you is stay in Philipines and enjoy life. For the hardship you are going to face, the salary offered is not acceptable for your profession!

(will answer your post in english, as this is the main post area...)

400USD is not even 1500QAR, this is not enough for a life in Doha (actually depends on your spending attitude). But even if they provide you accomodation, you did not mention transportation, so i guess you'll have to spend on that as well. Then your groceries/necessities for the month. Of course, there's mobile credits as well and also if you intend to send money to your family, then i don't suppose there will be anything much left.

Remember that once you are here it will not be like vacation, if you don't find your living arrangement, work or environment acceptable you can just get a ticket back to Manila. I believe if you do so you will spend for it. So what's the use of extra expenses. Also, take in consideration that there might be other opportunities and it would be a waste to go here and be stuck with your job & salary, then worry about being released or having a ban, when you can have waited for the right opportunity.

If you are earning about the same amount in the Philippines, suggest you stay in the Philippines and wait for a higher offer. It is better to stay bored in Manila with money, your family and friends. Than to be bored in Qatar with no money, family or friends.

I am sure... We speak english..... 400USD is ok for construction workers but not for teachers. I would advice you to accept the offer. then once you have entered qatar. speak with the labour ministry. they willl bring it to 700usd minimum plus fine the agency for inappropriate contracting.
