Hello, can anyone give advice. I am looking to come to Doha in Jan and am looking to share a 3 bedroom duplex with a female work colleague.

She is straight, and I am gay and there is no romantic/intimacy link between us !! odd that....

Will there be a problem?

Help really appreciated.

If you are both white/western europeans and you don't make it known you're not married - you could probably get away with it.

It's important to realize that here both adultery (which means any relations with someone you're not married to, not whether you're married or not) and homosexuality are illegal, punishable by arrest, flogging (not likely) and deportation.

That said, do people cohabit and carry on with their gay lifestyles? Yes. Do the police really care - not so much, but they WILL act on complaints - be they from a vindictive or fanatical neighbour, landlord, or coworker

It's not really a good idea because it is illegal. You don't want to start out here on the wrong foot. Come and get a feel for Qatar first and then decide if you should share accomodations.

simply put it doesnt matter if your straight or gay or hanging in between, the rule of the country is a unmarried man and woman cannot live under the same roof together. This doesnt mean its not happening it depends on where u live too, if its a whole building just for your company then may be, but you have to be careful coz even then its not allowed and i dont think ur company will provide rooms thats shared between male and female co-workers...you might also want to keep your gayness hush hush as thats taboo here too:) welcome and enjoy your stay in Sunny Qatar.
