What should I wear: teacher interview in Doha
By geminimini •
Hello all!
I'll be in Doha in a couple of weeks because my husband has a job interview. I'm an American elementary school teacher, and I'm trying to set up my own interviews at schools while we're there.
What should I wear if I do have an interview at one of the English-speaking schools? I'm assuming that I'd wear my regular clothes to the American school. What about the mostly-Qatari schools, though? Should I wear an abaya?
Thanks so much for your advice!
I'd go more conservative for the interview and then take a look around for a while before buying a whole new wardrobe. You can get some nice things made here as well. I'm very fond of Bombay Silk material made into light shirt-jackets.

My normal work clothes are knee length a-line skirts, blouses, and high heels. While neither short nor tight, they do show more of my form than I thought would be appropriate at a mostly-Qatari school.
If I'm wrong, though, that would be fantastic! (Not that I'd mind an excuse to buy some new clothes!!)
back home for an interview.
Grant me the senility to forget the people I never liked, the good fortune to run into the ones I do,and the eyesight to tell the difference.
hehehe
this is the most valuable advice of all here.
really, what you are wearing is the least of their concerns as long as you look decent and CLEAN. :)
Thanks for your advice everyone! I really appreciate it!
Good LUCK
May Allah bless My Qatar and it's people

You should wear something that helps the interviewer to FOCUS on your Teaching knowledge
.totally covered top with ankle length skirt...
.but the slit of the skirt is long enough that reaches your armpit.....lol....(j/k)
.
.seriously.
.blazer is a must. Neutral color
.below the knee skirt, (if you like it girlie)
.trouser /slacks.
.close shoes (boots are in for winter).
.scarf, decent handbag, pearl stud for accessories..
.and of course your personality.
.and a little humor.
.
well, what I suggest is you wear a suit composed of pants not too tight and a Jacket
as for under the jacket, the best will be to wear a shirt that is not widely open in the front...
by the way, wear simply and never too tight...
and Good Luck in your interview!!!!!
i meant nothing unusual
If You interview for a mostly-Qatari school it would be advisable to wear long sleeves and a modest skirt.
Try to wear ( Abaya) Qatari traditional dress
wish u all the best
No No ... wear whatever you like except trousers and short skirts are not preferred.
Good heavens, no, no abaya! You'd spend the entire interview explaining why you were wearing one. It's not offensive, it would just rouse curiosity. And you will find out that interview questions that are not acceptable in the US are perfectly fine here. It will be a bit chilly in a few weeks, you will want to wear a jacket and long-ish skirt or loose pants. Top button done. Nothing too tight when viewed from the back. Closed shoes. This advice is on the conservative side but it is a first interview, after that you can adapt your work clothes to your taste.
