How does real estate rental system work?

Could somebody please tell me what to expect when I look for a property to rent? Is there a law in Qatar that specifies what the tenant has to pay? for example, agent fees are paid ny tenant or landlord? And deposit? What are the common practices in case there are no laws? And how does it work - do tenants pay for one year in advance, or 1 month? Is security deposit required? Many thanks!

Hey guys! No need to argue :) I welcome all information, and I am sure different agencies have different rules. I called Asmakh today and they charge half the month's rent from the tenant... so I assume they would get another half from the landlord. King - thanks a lot for your answers! :) Any suggestions as to what agencies I should try with? Which one are you working with?

Bro! I am a Real-estate agent working for one of the prestige company in Qatar. Normaly we don't charge the client's if we are getting 100% commission from the landlord. if the landlord pays only 50% then we charge 50% from the Tenant. nothing more than that,

If you could tell me your requirment I am more than happy to help you :)

Quite simple..

The landlord / agent try to screw you for all they can get and sign you up for the longest contracts they can.

Real estate person is the middle man between the landlord & the Tenant. The middle person acts only to process deal between the landlord & The tenant. They normally don't keep some thing extra apart from the actual rent. They do take half & half commision from both parties. That's it!!!

The deposit normaly the landlord takes not because he needs money.. because of security purpose . ex : - when you made any damages to the villa / apartments, the landlord will minus the cost of your security deposit and will give you the balance when you leave the villa/apartment.

Regarding to the 1 year in advance it is case to case basis. The landlord not usually ask but some tenants willing to pay one year in advance to bargain the Rent.

Any more questions regards to real-estate pls well come :)

(Alsboy.. better you know b4 you answer :) )

Thanks & Regards,

Well, first things first, those middle people... real estate people, who act between u and the landlord, well... dey can do whatever possible without the knowledge of the landlord. i.e. If the landload actually has requested for 4000/- for a 2-bedroom house, the middle people will add in another 2000/- so they can make profit out of it. Its a routine thing. Anywayz, you wud need to keep a cheque deposit for a month's advance rent. No yearly system like Dubai or 6months
