how does prenatal care work in Qatar?

I am 10 weeks pregnant and would like to know how to get around having check ups and scans. I had my first one in the UK where it is all very easy and organised, but I have no idea where to start now... As Al Ahli is closed to home I think I would want to go there, but would appreciate to hear your experiences for both Al Ahli and Doha Clinic.

Do I have to be referred or can I just phone the hospital and make an appointment?
How many scans are made during the pregnancy?
How is the care during birth?
And anything else you might want to share!
Thanks!

hi i gave birth at al ahli and it was fantastic. my doctor was great as were the nurses. just be prepared to wait a while to actually see your doc on appointments.

i had a monthly scan as i was worried about a few things so i dont know the usual way. i think its up to you really.

i would never go to doha clinic as i heard bad things about that hospital.

take care and congrats :)

My doctor during my pregnancy was Dr. Amal Badi, her clinic is located in Al-Sadd area. Tel: 5535647. She is very good, highly accredited and recommended. Her clinic is fully equipped for check-ups, scans, and blood tests, and when your time draws near, she will tell you which hospital to go to for delivery.

Usually, every monthly visit you may have a scan test; unless otherwise recommended according to your personal condition. When your time draws near, visitation becomes a weekly bases.

Have faith, and may God help you through. Enjoy it, for it is the most amazing experience :D

If you need any help, please feel free to msg me.

MERRY CHIRSTMAS !!!

I had delivered at DOHA CLINIC few months back...V did enquired abt AL AHLI also, but it didnt fit in our budget..So v opted DOHA CLINIC..The staffs, doctors r very caring and helpful..Dr.Salma at doha clinic is really gud..There is no need to call ne hospitals..Actually, if u r visiting say, DOHA CLINIC or AL AHLI or HAMAD, the doctors themselves will give u the next appointment date..U just need to present on their said dates..THATS IT..

Dear friend, as far as i know scannings r not allowed many times..The doctors did on me at my 5th month and then at 8th month..But sometimes it differs from case to case..Just enjoy ur this stage..Its really fun to catch ur baby's movements after some months..I miss those..hahahahhaaa

I didn't try Al Ahli but one of my friends did and she was so happy for the care and every thing.

I was told it is the best one in Doha better than Doha clinic ( some says about the second one is not so good epically u had the first one in UK )

after all i wish u happy pregnancy and inshallah see ur baby soon

I have another advice for you, why don't you go to Dr. Adnan Abdulqader clinic, it is in Al Nasr street after Doha clinic on the same side, he is a great person and will tell you every information you need and he will help you as much as you need, i have 3 kids and he helped us during the prignancy of all the three, good luck.
