All The Oil & Gas plant all over the middle east have Joint Venture with US Co & using 30-50% items to run the Plant although same product are possible in Asian makes...
Where do you get info that Arabs invented Nukes??? Hahahahahahah
The only thing Arabs do well now is talk for hours using the latest Mobile phones [Nokia brand which is from Finland; I know] and watch American Movies while eating Big Macs and drinking Pepsi, all along cursing and damning the USA :-)
This is called hypocracy.
Even cell phones were invented by Motorola, an American company.
Every modern invention with NO exception was invented in USA.
Now, if you say some of these were made by Immigrants then I say congratulations to America for attracting greatest brains whose stupid countries do not appreciate them!
Its not only Israel is killing poor civilians, US also killing innocent people for oil , and what reason we say "Thanks to America" for killing thousands of people in Iraq for oil , and supporting US illegal son Israel.
And about the american product and all, ha ha ha, where is America now, Blue film makers also asking help.
For those crying to boycott American products, what do you want? More horrible quality in Qatar? Why not call for greedy Asian & Qatari Merchants to stop selling lowest-grade chinese & indian products for prices 10x US prices.
Hell, even tissues and toilet papers are so bad here in Qatar as oppsed to great quality found in US.
US products are not to blame for what Israel is doing to poor civilians in Gaza. After all, Arabs are hypocrites and they say one thing in public and do the other in private.
US gave you Internet and now how about stop using Internet to spread this Anti-American hate frenzy....
How about saying "Thanks to America" for all the great inventions and think about without America inventing cars you will be riding Camels and Asses to work...
Yusuf al-Qaradawi, (born September 9, 1926) is an Egyptian Muslim scholar and preacher best known for his popular al Jazeera program, ash-Shariah wal-Hayat ("Shariah and Life"), and IslamOnline (a website that he helped to found in 1997), where he offers opinions and religious edicts ("fatwa") based on his interpretation of the Qur'an. He has also published some fifty books, including The Lawful and the Prohibited in Islam and Islam: The Future Civilization.
Although al-Qaradawi has long had one of the more prominent roles within the thought leadership of the Muslim Brotherhood[1], he has twice turned turn down offers for the official directorship role of the organization.[2] Among many Muslims, he is considered a moderate conservative, who seeks to explain and adapt the ideals of the Islamic lifestyle with those of modern society. Others consider him as a staunch Islamist, who rejects universal human rights and some of the fundamentals of democracy, and note his endorsement of Palestinian suicide bombing attacks against Israeli civilian targets.
Al-Qaradawi was born in Egypt. Following his father's death, the two year old Qaradawi was raised by his uncle. His family urged him to either run a grocery store or to become a carpenter. Instead, he read and memorized the entire Qur'an by the time he was nine years old. Qaradawi was a follower of Hasan al-Banna during his youth and was imprisoned first under the monarchy in 1949, then three times after the publication of Tyrant and the Scholar. He attended the Al-Azhar Theological Seminary before moving to Qatar....
During his time at al-Azhar, al-Qaradawi oversaw the Muslim Brotherhood's (Wafd-government-approved) paramilitary training camp there, alongside fellow Muslim Brothers Ahmed al-'Asal and Abdallah al-'Aqil. The camp, along with others like it at other Egyptian universities, taught university students how to use weapons and explosives, and drilled them in a doctrine of religious war against the occupying British and Israelis.[4]
He worked in the Egyptian Ministry of Religious Endowments, was the Dean of the Islamic Department at the Faculties of Shariah and Education in Qatar, and served as chairman of the Islamic Scientific Councils of Algerian Universities and Institutions.
He was a longtime member of the Muslim Brotherhood, and has turned down offers to be the Brotherhood's leader various times. Qaradawi is the head of the European Council for Fatwa and Research.
Views
[edit] Sectarian views
Qaradawi has been an avid caller to what he calls "Islamic Sufism", praising those who practice it as pious.[27]. He has also been a staunch defender of the Ashari school of belief within Islam, going so far as to claim that the whole Muslim world follows this school as well as all Muslim religious schools in the world.[28]
Qaradawi has also described Shi'ites as liars, "heretics" [29] and "treacherous" [30]. In response, the Iranian Press Agency has described Qaradawi as "a spokesman for “international Freemasonry and Jewish rabbis".
[edit] Suicide bombings
Qaradawi strongly supports Palestinian attacks on Israeli targets, including against civilians, believing they are legitimate form of resistance. Qaradawi claims that hundreds of other Islamic scholars are of the same opinion.
Defending bombings against off duty soldiers Qaradawi told BBC Newsnight that:
* "An Israeli woman is not like women in our societies, because she is a soldier."
* "I consider this type of martyrdom operation as an evidence of God's justice."
* "Allah Almighty is just; through his infinite wisdom he has given the weak a weapon the strong do not have and that is their ability to turn their bodies into bombs as Palestinians do". [31]
At the press conference held by the organizations sponsoring Qaradawi's visit to London, Qaradawi reiterated his view that Suicide attacks are a justified from of resistance to Israeli occupation. In the past, Qaradawi has justified such terrorist actions on the basis that all Israel civilians are potential soldiers since Israel is a "militarized society."
Due to this, Qaradawi has been accused by many Western countries and Israel of supporting terrorism.
However, he is opposed to attacks outside of the Palestinian territories and on other than Israeli targets. For example, on March 20, 2005, Qaradawi issued a condemnation of a car-bombing that had occurred in Doha, Qatar the day before. One Briton, Jon Adams was killed. Qaradawi issued a statement[32] that said "Such crimes are committed by insane persons who have no religious affiliation and play well into the hands of the enemies." and "I urge all Qataris to stand united in facing such an epidemic and uproot it to nip the infection in the bud, otherwise it will spread like wildfire. I, in the name of all scholars in Qatar, denounce such a horrendous crime and pray that it would be the last and implore God to protect this secure country.".
See also his comments here:[33].
[edit] Opinion on the 2006 Israel-Lebanon conflict
In response to Muslim scholar 'Abdullaah ibn Jibreen's fatwa declaring that it was forbidden for Muslims to support or pray for Hezbollah because they are Shia, Qaradawi issued a contrary fatwa, stating that it was mandatory for all Muslims to support Hezbollah in its fight against Israel, claiming that "Shias agree with the Sunnis in the main principles of Islam while the differences are only over the branches." In this fatwa, he also called upon the Sunnis and Shia of Iraq to end the civil war.[34]
[edit] Boycott fatwa
According to IslamOnline, Qaradawi released a fatwa on April 14 2004 stating boycott of American and Israeli products was an obligation for all who are able.[35][18]The fatwa reads in part :
"If people ask in the name of religion we must help them. The vehicle of this support is a complete boycott of the enemies' goods. Each riyal, dirham …etc. used to buy their goods eventually becomes bullets to be fired at the hearts of brothers and children in Palestine. For this reason, it is an obligation not to help them (the enemies of Islam) by buying their goods. To buy their goods is to support tyranny, oppression and aggression. Buying goods from them will strengthen them; our duty is to make them as weak as we can. Our obligation is to strengthen our resisting brothers in the Sacred Land as much as we can. If we cannot strengthen the brothers, we have a duty to make the enemy weak. If their weakness cannot be achieved except by boycott, we must boycott them.
American goods, exactly like "Israeli" goods, are forbidden. It is also forbidden to advertise these goods. America today is a second Israel. It totally supports the Zionist entity. The usurper could not do this without the support of America. "Israel's" unjustified destruction and vandalism of everything has been using American money, American weapons, and the American veto. America has done this for decades without suffering the consequences of any punishment or protests about their oppressive and prejudiced position from the Islamic world."
[edit] Pokemon fatwa
In 2001, Saudi Arabia banned the game of Pokémon as a Zionist plot; Qaradawi issued a fatwa endorsing this in December 2003, saying that Pokemon not only uses Jewish and Masonic symbols, but teaches evolution. Not only do Pokemon evolve, they do so "in battles where the survivors are those who adapt better to the environment; another of Darwin's dogmas." In addition, both depiction of imaginary animals and card-games are contrary to the Quran. Qaradawi also notes that some Japanese expressions squeaked and gibbered by Pokemon may mean "I am a Jew" and "Become a Jew," but admits the matter is controversial and he isn't certain.[36]
[edit] Mecca Time
In April 2008, at a conference in Qatar titled "Mecca: the Center of the Earth, Theory and Practice", Qaradawi advocated the implementation of Mecca Time to replace the Greenwich Meridian as the basis of the world time zone system.[37]
[edit] Controversy and Criticism
[edit] Criticism from Wahabi and Salafis
Qaradawi urged the Taliban to reconsider its decision to tear down the Buddha statues in Afghanistan in 2001. He was quickly criticized for supporting "idol worship". Upon meeting with leaders from the Taliban, Qaradawi reversed his position and praised the act of the destruction of the statues. [38]
The late Salafi scholar Muhammad Naasiruddeen al-Albaanee disagreed with Qaradawi's stance that photography and pictures were lawful, even authoring a book in response to those positions.[citation needed]
Qaradawi also came under heavy criticism for a comment during a sermon in which he stated, regarding Benjamin Netanyahu's victory as the Prime Minister of Israel by a large margin, that "Allah himself would not achieve this." Fellow Muslim scholar Muqbil bin Haadi al-Waadi'ee also authored a book criticizing Qaradawi titled Silencing the Hounding Dog in which he questioned this statement as possible disbelief.[39] Muhammad ibn al Uthaymeen reacted similarly when the statement was played for him from an audio tape, stating that it was obligatory for Qaradawi to repent from the statement or otherwise he should be "killed as an apostate."[40]
[edit] Democratic perspective
Qaradawi has at times spoken in favor of democracy in the Muslim world,[41] speaking of a need for reform of political climates in the Middle East specifically.[42]
[edit] Allegations of Anti-Semitism
Qaradawi is currently president of the Dublin-based European Council for Fatwa and Research. In August 2005, the Wall Street Journal reported that the Council had used the infamous Protocols of the Elders of Zion in its theological deliberations.[43]
[edit] Danish cartoon controversy
Qaradawi called for a "Day of Anger" over the cartoons,[44] but condemned violent actions in response to them.[45]
[edit] Homosexuality
On June 5 2006, on the Al Jazeera "Sharia and Life" programme he regularly features on, al-Qaradawi reiterated orthodox views on homosexuality. [46] When asked about the punishment for people who "practise liwaat (sodomy) or sihaaq (lesbian activity)", al-Qaradawi replied: "The same punishment as any sexual pervert - the same as the fornicator." (MEMRI translation) [47]
[edit] Terrorism
After the September 11 attacks, Qaradawi, urging Muslims to donate blood for the victims of the attacks, stated,[48]
"Islam, the religion of tolerance, holds the human soul in high esteem, and considers the attack against innocent human beings a grave sin, this is backed by the Qur'anic verse which reads:
Who so ever kills a human being for other than manslaughter or corruption in the earth, it shall be as if he has killed all mankind, and who so ever saves the life of one, it shall be as if he had saved the life of all mankind," (Al-Ma'dah:32).
"The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, is reported to have said, 'A believer remains within the scope of his religion as long as he doesn't kill another person illegally'"
"Islam never allows a Muslim to kill the innocent and the helpless." He denies that Palestinian suicide bombing attacks constitute terrorism, claiming that "when Palestinians face such unjust aggression, they tend to stem bloodletting and destruction and not to claim the lives of innocent civilians", but qualifies that with "I do agree with those who do not allow such martyr operations to be carried out outside the Palestinian territories."
In modern times, Yousef al-Qaradhawi has suggested the legitimate use of suicide bombings against enemy combatants if the defending combatants had no other means of self-defense.[49]
[edit] Entry into western countries
Qaradawi has been banned from entering the United States of America since 1999 and the United Kingdom since 2008,[50] though he visited London in 2004.[51]
In July 2003 he visited Stockholm, Sweden, for a conference at the Stockholm Mosque arranged by the Muslim Association of Sweden. During the conference al-Qaradawi expressed his support for suicide attacks against Israeli civilians which he called a "necessary Jihad".[52]
[edit] Fatwa controversy with MEMRI
Middle East Media Research Institute (MEMRI), citing Asharq Al-Awsat, alleges that Qaradawi issued a Fatwa following the Iraqi insurgency, saying,
"...all of the Americans in Iraq are combatants, there is no difference between civilians and soldiers, and one should fight them, since the American civilians came to Iraq in order to serve the occupation. The abduction and killing of Americans in Iraq is a [religious] obligation so as to cause them to leave Iraq immediately. The mutilation of corpses [however] is forbidden in Islam." [53]
Qaradawi, however, denies this allegation, having "disowned" that which was said in my name in the media on the subject of the killing of American civilians in Iraq":
I have not published a Fatwa on this issue. At the Egyptian Journalists' Union a few days ago I was asked about the permissibility of fighting against the occupation in Iraq, and I answered that it is permitted.
Afterwards I was asked concerning the American civilians in Iraq and I merely responded with the question – are there American civilians in Iraq?
It is a matter of common knowledge that in Fatwas such as these I do not use the word "killing" but rather I say "struggle," which is a more comprehensive word than the word "killing" and whose meaning is not necessarily to kill. In addition, I have condemned the taking of hostages on a number of occasions in the past and have demanded that they be released and that their lives not be threatened."
Shaker Al-Nabulsi, a progressive muslim who writes for the liberal site Ethal, called for the creation of a petition to the UN calling to put Qaradawi and his like on trial for incitement and support of terrorism.
Alcohol fatwa controversy
Qaradawi issued a fatwa in recent months stating that the consumption of small amounts of alcohol (
Mahmoud Zahhar is believed to be the leader of the Palestinian Islamic Resistance Group, Hamas, in Gaza.
A surgeon who teaches medicine at the Islamic University in Gaza, Mr Zahhar helped found the group in 1987 with Sheikh Ahmed Yassin.
He became a member of the "collective leadership" of the militant group in 2004 after Sheikh Yassin and Abdel-Aziz Rantissi were assassinated by Israel.
Mr Zahhar is one of Hamas' ideological leaders and is considered to be more hardline than Ismail Haniya, who headed the group's national list of candidates for the January legislative elections.
Ismail Haniya was a relatively unknown figure until he headed the Hamas list that won the Palestinian legislative election of January 2006.
He had risen within the Islamic group as a close associate of its spiritual leader, the late Sheikh Ahmad Yassin, whose office he ran.
He is considered a pragmatist in the movement's ranks who is more open to dialogue with Israel.
However, he has insisted that Israel would have to recognise Palestinian rights before talks could begin.
=============================================
Who are the Hamas?
Hamas takes its name from the Arabic initials for the Islamic Resistance Movement.
Branded a terrorist organization by Israel, the US and the EU, it is seen by its supporters as a legitimate fighting force defending Palestinians from a brutal military occupation.
It is the largest Palestinian militant Islamist organisation, formed in 1987 at the beginning of the first intifada, or Palestinian uprising against Israel's occupation in the West Bank and Gaza.
The group's short-term aim has been to drive Israeli forces from the occupied territories. To achieve this it has launched attacks on Israeli troops and settlers in the Palestinian territories and against civilians in Israel.
It also has a long-term aim of establishing an Islamic state on all of historic Palestine - most of which has been contained within Israel's borders since its creation in 1948.
For years the organisation was divided into two main spheres of operation:
* social programmes like building schools, hospitals and religious institutions
* militant operations carried out by Hamas' underground Iss al-Din Qassam Brigades.
But it became increasingly involved in Palestinian factional politics, both in the occupied territories and with a political branch in exile.
One of its leaders-in-exile, Khalid Meshaal, was the target of a bungled Israeli assassination attempt in Jordan in 1997.
King Hussein was outraged by Israel's action and was only placated when Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu released Hamas's jailed spiritual leader and founder Sheikh Ahmed Yassin.
While King Hussein tolerated Hamas's presence, his successor King Abdullah II had the group's headquarters closed down and senior figures expelled to Qatar.
Hamas has remained outside the main Palestinian political structure of the PLO, but it took part in - and won - Palestinian Authority (PA) legislative elections in the occupied territories in 2006.
Veto power
Hamas came to prominence after the first intifada as the main Palestinian opponent of the Oslo accords - the US-sponsored peace process that oversaw the gradual and partial removal of Israel's occupation in return for Palestinian guarantees to protect Israeli security.
Despite numerous Israeli operations against it and clampdowns by Yasser Arafat's Palestinian National Authority, Hamas found it had an effective power of veto over the process by launching suicide attacks.
In February and March 1996, it carried out several suicide bus bombings, killing nearly 60 Israelis, in retaliation for the assassination in December 1995 of Hamas bomb maker Yahya Ayyash.
The bombings were widely blamed for turning Israelis off the peace process and bringing about the election of right-winger Mr Netanyahu who was a staunch opponent of the Oslo accords.
In the post-Oslo world, most particularly following the failure of US President Bill Clinton's Camp David summit in the summer of 2000 and the second intifada which followed shortly thereafter, Hamas gained power and influence as Israel steadily destroyed the infrastructure of the Palestinian Authority.
In towns and refugee camps besieged by the Israeli army, Hamas organised clinics and schools which served Palestinians who felt entirely let down by the corrupt and inefficient Palestinian Authority dominated by its secularist rival, Fatah.
The armed struggle
Many Palestinians cheered the wave of Hamas suicide attacks (and those of fellow militants Islamic Jihad and the secular al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigade) in the first years of the intifada.
They saw "martyrdom" operations as the best way to avenge their own losses and counter Israel's unchecked settlement building in the West Bank.
After the death of Fatah leader Yasser Arafat in 2004, the Palestinian Authority was taken over by Mahmoud Abbas, a vocal opponent of attacks on Israel.
He viewed Hamas rocket fire, the militants' weapon of choice in recent years, as counterproductive, inflicting little damage on Israel but provoking a harsh response by the Israeli military.
When Hamas scored a landslide victory in the Palestinian Authority legislative elections in 2006, the stage was set for a bitter power struggle with Fatah.
Hamas resisted all efforts to get it to sign up to previous agreements with Israel, as well as to recognise Israel's legitimacy and to give up the armed struggle.
It has remained steadfast to its pledge never to sign up to a permanent ceasefire while Israel occupies Palestinian territory and its troops are responsible for the deaths of Palestinians.
It did, however, offer a 10-year truce in return for a complete Israeli withdrawal from territories occupied in 1967: the West Bank, Gaza Strip and East Jerusalem.
But it has not relinquished its assertion that Palestinian refugees from 1948 should be allowed to return to homes in what has become Israel - a move that threatens Israel's very existence as a Jewish state.
Assassinations
Over the years Hamas has lost many members in Israeli assassinations and security sweeps.
The paraplegic and visually impaired Sheikh Yassin was killed in a missile attack on 22 March 2004.
Khaled Meshaal, now based in Syria, became the group's overall leader. Abdul Aziz al-Rantissi emerged as Hamas leader in Gaza before he too was assassinated six weeks later on 17 April.
Other prominent Hamas officials killed by the Israelis include Ismail Abu Shanab, in August 2003, and Izz al-Din Qassam Brigades leader Salah Shehada, in July 2002.
Shehada's successor, Muhammad Deif - whom Israel blames for the 1996 bombings - has escaped several attempts on his life.
More moderate political figures also emerged as significant players within the movement.
One of them was Ismail Haniya, a former aide to Sheikh Yassin, who was appointed to a "collective leadership" in the occupied territories along with the more hardline Mahmoud Zahhar and Said al-Siyam.
Facing the electorate
Hamas's decision to stand in PA legislative council elections in 2006 was a major departure for the movement and had a profound impact on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
Top figures said the move reflected Hamas's importance in the Palestinian sphere and the need for it to address failing political structures beset by corruption, inefficiency and lost credibility.
It did not, they insisted, imply any acceptance of a two-state solution to the conflict, although Hamas opposition to the Oslo accords had kept it out of previous elections.
Aside from its much-vaunted incorruptibility, Hamas campaigned forcefully on its claim that Israel's withdrawal from Gaza in the summer of 2005 was a victory for its commitment to armed conflict with the Israelis.
But if Hamas leaders thought its parliamentary victory would bestow greater credibility on them in the eyes of the international community - or if they thought in any way that they would be given any more leeway - they were mistaken.
The new government was subjected to tough economic and diplomatic sanctions by Israel and its allies in the West.
Skirmishes in Gaza with the Fatah-dominated PA security forces escalated to all-out war, in which the well-armed and better-disciplined Qassam Brigades eventually ousted their rivals in May 2007.
Hamas security control made Gaza a more calm and orderly place than it had been for months. But Israel tightened its blockade on the Strip and - despite a multilateral ceasefire in June 2008 - rocket fire and Israeli raids continued to provide provocations for more violence by each side.
And on the diplomatic level, the Palestinians faced their biggest set-back for decades.
With Hamas in charge of Gaza and the pro-Fatah PA operating in the West Bank - and neither side engaging properly with the other - the aspiration of an independent Palestinian seemed further away than ever.
PM has a very valid point, and as Muslims we should be seriously questioning this. Of all my teachings I have never heard such an outrageous statement and I find it troubling.
I also find it troubling that Metro refers to Americans and Israelis, and anyone who refutes his posts as 'not human' as he types away on his American made PC with American software. A boycott of convenience.
PM: Of course, but i'm sure he didn't gave any importance to such declarations from other scholars because he knows God's love and that only Allah has the right to give/take lifes. Any human saying that he kills in name of Allah can only be called a liar. All i want is peace and love all over the globe.
Only God Can Judge Me

"Tantawi, Sheikh of Cairo's al-Azhar University, the oldest university in the world, said Monday that Islamic Shari'ah law, "rejects all attempts on human life, and in the name of Shari'ah we condemn all attacks on civilians, whatever the community or state responsible for such an attack.""
Exactly my thought, i can only applaude this declaration made by Sheik Al-Azhar Tantawi. Thumbs up
Only God Can Judge Me
الله فقط يمكنه محاكمتي
I am you and you are me, if you love i love, if you suffer i suffer

"Sheikh Yusuf al-Qaradawi, whom many regard as the most preeminent and influential religious authority in the Arab and Muslim world, condemned the 9/11 terrorist attacks and other acts of terrorism. His opinions stress that Muslims are not allowed to kill anyone except those fighting Muslims directly and that it is immoral to kill innocent civilians for their government’s actions. However, he was also one of the first religious scholars to approve suicide bombings in Israel.
A key issue that has emerged in these debates is that of proportionality, that the response or retaliation must be in proportion to the crime committed. Those who seek to justify the killing of civilians argue that in Israel there are no innocent civilians both because Israeli society is a military society (men and women have to serve in the military and continue to serve in the reserves) and because Israeli occupation and policies indiscriminately kill Palestinian civilians."....
Refering to the fatwa for justifying killing israeli women and children, can you give me the date he sent this to gulftimes, and also the date he apologized?
The fatwa is actually schocking for me, and I wanna know the whole story.
It seems to me that you're well informed about the Scholar. I just wonder whether you have re-checked all the information about him that you shared here.
"O you who believe! if an evil-doer comes to you with a report, look carefully into it, lest you harm a people in ignorance, then be sorry for what you have done"..
Pm you need to watch a famous indian movie called Sholay with english subtitle to understand this coz metro used the dialogue of that movie with some alterations.
Yes PM , I am an Indian , the largest Democracy Country, and our Democracy not like US made it in Iraq, and now the Iraqi children when they are not sleeping Iraq mother will tell them , Sleep otherwise will call the "Democracy" .
Please be with them, who really need our help. If not supporting them still don't make it funny, and the same situation when happend to us or our family we will realise.
WE CAN BOYCOTT WHATEVER POSSIBLE PRODUCTS THAT WE COULD MAINLY CONSUMER PRODUCTS, CARS, FOOD STUFFS, WHATEVER WE ARE SUPPOSED TO BUY FROM NOW ON. INSHA ALLAH.
as u said same items can be provided by asian countries to run oil & Gas Plant, what those are getting from US...But it's not so easy, two major reasons are given below;
Firstly, Oil & Gas Companies Procedures don't allow them to change any specs. as brand name is also considered as a part of specs.
Secondly, those companies consider the products from Asian countries as a sub-standard which cannot meet the standard of US Made Products.
@Novita77.....Do you know that Oil Production and Export is the basic means of income to Middle East. By the way USA it-self is an oil producing country, why do they keep their oil saved, it's something belong to int'l policies. Don't under-estimate anybody.
how about the other way around? why dont the middle east oil producer countries stopped all the production all together? I am sure that will hurt 'the west', 'american' or whatever you call them.
Brit I agree with you, but unfortunately it will never happen with the present leaders.. If it happens, US intellegnce will report the country posses WMD including chemical weapons and US will attack them..lol
No they can't...It might be fun or not but the reality.. It wont happen Brit
You need leader like the late King Faisal who took decisions that shook the west.. Not like the current day leaders.. Who are only worried if the Oil will reach $100 dollar mark again.
i see thats what we should but if we had no alternative like the computer i'm using right now then its acceptable, and the first thing we should boycott are ipods. i really hate those things
We're all making fun, but the question was to do with boycotts at government or company levels. These are possible.
The problem is that companies look to profitability and sustainability , rather than ethics or morality.
Governments mke decisions based on political and self serving interests.
I would put out this question though. If the USA can refuse Dubai Ports Authority the right to buy in the USA due to security reasons, then can't Gulf countries do the same with US companies on similar or even moral grounds ?
Cant close the American school then all the students (from various nationalities) will be knocking on the door of the British Schools we already have a big waiting list and problem getting our own kids in there...lol
Oh, gosh, I guess we'd have to start with Coke and Pepsi and Starbucks and move to McDonalds and KFC and Pizza Hut among myriad others. Then Mac (Apple) and Microsoft and Dell and Symantec. And almost all English language movies and TV shows and music and books. And Ford and GMC and Chrysler. And Ipods and Iphones and Blackberries. And a whole lotta fruits and vegetables at Carrefour (strawberries, apples and bananas for example.) I do currently boycott products made in Israeli West Bank settlements, such as Ahava. I'm not unsympathetic to the idea. But it is a personal choice.
lol PM.. absolutely correct. Metrocity Our Host (Qatari) who have a great investment in these US Franchise will never allow this. So please be realistic. Good to be emotional some time not all the time..
Well, yes, and if you mistakenly include other countries' brands in the boycott you could end up with a completely empty mall/market! Sort of a shooting yourself in the foot scenario.
I beleive that Qadarawi is Egyption. Is there no famous or renowned local Qatari Scholar.
Boycott American/Israeli products.. Are you guys serious. This can only done if the countries take a stance like they did when the cartoon issue came up and the all Danish products were removed from the Supermarkets.. Guess Denmark only have a few Products. Banning US products I think that the half of the Shopping malls and supermarkets will be empty.
Boycott means, to boycott US product in Qatar Soniyaji. Lots of US products here in Qatar like Nestle, KFC etc.. Qardawi ask to boycott from buying US products. and people like peace and don't like killing innocent people for oil please join, others exuss ! NO COMMENT
Qardawi owned building and boycott US products in between what is connection Mr.alfa Q,
Think like human, not like US & Israel people, who kills people, and doen't give freedome for others, and you are an Indian you never forget what the British people did to us, most of our problem because of British , they divided and rule and loot our wealth , and now they became "Great Brittan" (from looting wealth from India)
This freedom not for Palestine? and why America acting like world Police , offcourse I am using MSoft (US made) not for free, because of costomer US people having bread and milk.
Request please think like human, and don't support who kills innocent people for Oil and money.
Not wishing to change the direction of the thread, but you say ..."I think that taking Israel as allies is the most dangerous strategy the US has taken in the last 50 years"..
Perhaps so, but look at it this way. By aligning themselves so strongly with Israel, the USA has a strategic presence in probably the most stable democratic country in the world. It also gives them a trusted "proxy" to utilize whenever neccessary..
Please Qardawi Fatwa for the Human, not for others please if your people don't agree his Fatwa at least keep quit, our brothers and sisteres killing everyday in Gaza , Don't heart us ,
Real Human will not support US & Israel, Dear Muslim Brothers and sisters please please boycott strongly US Products , and most of the US branded product owned by Israels and this same mafia is controlling all America.
What is the repercussion? Uncle Joe got a cold and there is a tsunami, and initial 'symptom' is only being felt at this time. It has not fully sinked in. The world economy is umbilically linked to the US wether we like it or not. And that's how it's gonna work until some genius can undo decades of US dominance on this aspect. They say the US consume 70% of the worlds resources. Who's gonna take over that role?
...have shown that 73% of the non-us players prefer to play as spetnatz or terrorists,no as marines. Why?
Alexa,do you know that you have 62% more chance to win if playing against the marines?
Yes that's only a game but it's funny to see that the marines team sucks like in real life, and that for some unknown reasons gamers don't like them.Again why?
So I'm not destined to lose cause I know which team is more likely to win...lol
The Arab countries cannot attack Israel do you forget that Israel has NUCLEAR WEAPONS and often threatens to use them on Iran, they will secure themselves even if it meanT attacking the US. Don't forget their attack on the USS Liberty and what they just did to an aid ship carrying doctors and a CNN report and an ex US congresswomen no one is beyond Israels reach even if you are in INTERNATIONAL WATERS. Israel even had intelligence that the American Marines would have a terrorist attack in Lebanon and they didn't share the intelligence with the US. Their survival is all that matters. The US is giving money to someone who may be their worst enemy one day. Even an Israeli actor and some friends lit candles at the Wailing Wall yesterday and the Israeli police beat them up and kept them in detention, they don't even respect their own!
exactly! or why weren't fellow muslims calling for a boycott of all muslim products during the massacre in Darfur?
also- the arabs might want to remember that without Western (largely American) labor, technology, intelligence and brainpower, that oil of theirs would stay in the ground!
I dont like the idea of supporting any company who contributes to the killing of innocent civilians especially children, whether its American or not.
boycotts may or may not work on a global scale but why is the notion of personal boycotting ridiculous. How many of us here have boycotted a certain restaurant because the staff didnt treat us well or we werent satisfied with the food. Each to their own.
Who cant defend his statement later and sends a letter to Gulf times again APOLOGIZING and saying that it was a misprint. IF YOU REMEMBER HE DID THAT ONCE ON GULF TIME was trying for protest against Americans and asking to boycott. that was years ago.
Then when he visited London few years ago and was addressing a huge crowd IN WHICH 60% got against him.
oh He is Well Known Scholar of Islamic World
WHY doesnt he go Visit Afganistan and Pakistan. Because he know like bush he will face SHOES.MIGHT FACE FUW CHOCOLATE size bullets too.
Real scholars know that the solution from Islam to solve this and the rest of the problems inflicting the muslim and non muslim world is through the establishment of the Islamic State.
Then the armies of the muslims can be utilised to engage the enemies and protect the muslim world from attack.
Calling for protests; boycotts and even collecting money is not the solution Islam advocates to our problems nor will it end the jewish bombardment and killing of the muslims in palestine. Absolutely not. That is why such calls to boycott are dangerous and deliberate; designed to divert the calling for the Islamic state to undertaking futile activities; the cheap struggle.
When Umar bin Khattab (ra) went to Al-Quds after the muslim army had liberated palestine; he signed the Umari Treaty which forbade the presence of the jews in Al-quds. The Prophets companions did not object to this ruling so it was a Consensus of the Companions i.e a binding shariah rule until the Day of Judgement.
Furthermore those who call for two state solution are contradicting the sharia rule which forbids the giving away of muslim land. The noble Prophet stated " The one who gives away a hand span of muslim land will find the same for himself in Hell".
It's a great idea, however, if you recall, US presidents have stated in the past that "Oil is the lifeline of the contry and they won't allow it to be strangled"
PM, it's not such a big deal. It's common knowledge that the US has huge reserves of oil, but they choose to use Arab oil till it runs out then they are left in the driving seat!
It wont make an impact. What will make an impact is when we admit that we are all terrorists since that is what they call us and understand ourselves and stop running after this people.
Poverty is not for the sake of hardship. No, it is there because nothing exists but God. Poverty unlocks the door -- what a blessed key!
hey soniya I have mentioned a topic about Indias terrorism plz come up with ur views also in that since ur a Mumbai vasi.the topic is Why is only India targeted.
It is feasible, but rather impractical. companies are global now and ownership / shareholding can belong to many nationalities.
i do believe though that there is room to use this as "leverage" to make the US authorities take note.
If serious, oil/gas producers can begin to "nationalise" some aspects and also start looking for alternative sources for manpower and infrastructure. It can'r however be done over night.
It'll never work, though I do agree that there are alternatives. Japanese cars are far better than US ones. US electronics are second rate compared to their Asian counterparts, but as you say, in the oil field, where it really counts, you've got to hand it to the Americans, and without oil (or gas) where would the middle east be?
But, and the big but, is, without American products (Intel, AMD, etc, Apple Mac, and Microsoft, there'd be no way to spread this message!

US and Israel is two sides of one coin.
Who is: Yusuf al-Qaradawi?

Hamas PM Ismail Haniya

Ismail Haniya was a relatively unknown figure until he headed the Hamas list that won the Palestinian legislative election of January 2006.
He had risen within the Islamic group as a close associate of its spiritual leader, the late Sheikh Ahmad Yassin, whose office he ran.
He is considered a pragmatist in the movement's ranks who is more open to dialogue with Israel.
However, he has insisted that Israel would have to recognise Palestinian rights before talks could begin.
=============================================

Boycott Israel Campaign
Hmm, I joined this one late and am sorry I did.

Don't be in denial state like our neighbours.
PM: Of course, but i'm sure he didn't gave any importance to such declarations from other scholars because he knows God's love and that only Allah has the right to give/take lifes. Any human saying that he kills in name of Allah can only be called a liar. All i want is peace and love all over the globe.

I got a bigger picture from this link:
http://blogs.georgetown.edu/?id=26237

If you refer to this

Then I'm all for him
He is a kind of moderate scholar, who allows Muslims to give greetings to Christian. To be honest, I don't believe that kind of fatwa coming from him.
The gulftimes and ask him about Qardawi statements. and i think you wont like his address that he made in london when he was there.
it was beginning of War stage in Iraq and he issued a statement about United States and the very next day he apologized that IT WAS A MISPRINT.
Refering to the fatwa for justifying killing israeli women and children, can you give me the date he sent this to gulftimes, and also the date he apologized?
The fatwa is actually schocking for me, and I wanna know the whole story.
Thanks in advance..! I
No need for rechecking about him.
He himself issues a statement and the next day HE DENIES THAT IT WASNT HIM. what more do you need.
Thats isnt called a scholar.
Metrocity is dumb enough not to realise that such statements as made by Qaradawi bring in donations which make posh buildings.
It seems to me that you're well informed about the Scholar. I just wonder whether you have re-checked all the information about him that you shared here.

as u said same items can be provided by asian countries to run oil & Gas Plant, what those are getting from US...But it's not so easy, two major reasons are given below;

Lol UkEngQatar ...
Cant close the American school then all the students (from various nationalities) will be knocking on the door of the British Schools we already have a big waiting list and problem getting our own kids in there...lol

Right Novi.. that will save a lot security costs. There are four Police cars parked there one watching each wall..

Close down the American School and send home all the american expatriates ...

Metrocity and dont forget that there is a big US base here in Qatar for the security of this country..

HE WHO DARES WINS
PM, this is (Windows, Mac ) donation from me for poor America, due to the financial crisis.

Better to be empty malls & Supmarket without US productUK Eng.Instead of make empty our pockets and using the money to kill innocent people.
Mandilulu thanx 4 information , Nestle not US product? If someone knows US products please inform the brands, atleast my self to boycott in future.
Jai Hind
Well, yes, and if you mistakenly include other countries' brands in the boycott you could end up with a completely empty mall/market! Sort of a shooting yourself in the foot scenario.
Mandi
I beleive that Qadarawi is Egyption. Is there no famous or renowned local Qatari Scholar.
Boycott American/Israeli products.. Are you guys serious. This can only done if the countries take a stance like they did when the cartoon issue came up and the all Danish products were removed from the Supermarkets.. Guess Denmark only have a few Products. Banning US products I think that the half of the Shopping malls and supermarkets will be empty.
-----------------
HE WHO DARES WINS
Nestle is a Swiss company, metrocity. We should get our nationalities straight if we'd expect the boycott to be effective!
Mandi
Boycott means, to boycott US product in Qatar Soniyaji. Lots of US products here in Qatar like Nestle, KFC etc.. Qardawi ask to boycott from buying US products. and people like peace and don't like killing innocent people for oil please join, others exuss ! NO COMMENT
JAI HIND
Some people have misunderstood me or us... I am not talk what is happening at Gaza..

May be they can Boycott selling Crude to US???

Same applies to Al-Saha Restaurant, Zara Villagio, Quicksilver City Centen (Karwa drivers are much better!!)
Boycott Israel Campaign
Qardawi owned building and boycott US products in between what is connection Mr.alfa Q,
Think like human, not like US & Israel people, who kills people, and doen't give freedome for others, and you are an Indian you never forget what the British people did to us, most of our problem because of British , they divided and rule and loot our wealth , and now they became "Great Brittan" (from looting wealth from India)
If you see the big building at al saad signal which is owned by Qaradawi you will understand the reasons for his statements.
There is a a lot of oil here in Alberta!

China will rule the world this year. You can't afford boycotting them ;)
it must be not easy for him losing his popularity... Specially with the Shia's controversy & his troubled "son"...
Well last time he called for US boycott, he back down for not affecting the sales of "local distributors" ;)

Anhoo, back to the post...
isnt it funny metrocity is using computer with parts in it made in America lol oh and even the Microsoft which is Made in USA. and he is whining here.
Metrocity you stop first using your pc thats made in States

Even an Israeli actor and some friends lit candles at the Wailing Wall yesterday and the Israeli police beat them up and kept them in detention, they don't even respect their own!
and do you really get from boycotting.
You really cant stop every single individual on this earth to boycott anything.
exactly! or why weren't fellow muslims calling for a boycott of all muslim products during the massacre in Darfur?
also- the arabs might want to remember that without Western (largely American) labor, technology, intelligence and brainpower, that oil of theirs would stay in the ground!
Hmmm!! Do the Palestinian Charities go for buying Rockets? Is that the meaning of charity?
then they can't buy rockets, so then they can't fire rockets, so then they won't shoot at Israel and Israel won't shoot at Gaza?

you also got stared at
damn they are such bunch of (*##$%(*&)
I need to Check with Qardawi i dont like going to Grand Cafe they are very mean arrogant staff. :)
Americana is not American owned...
Bit of a misnomer that "Americana" - isn't it actually Kuwaiti food?
Did you Google it first?
i am starving hungry i better go find some AMERICANA food to eat and buy ONLY AMERICANA to help grow their business
ciao :D

You are missing one basic point. They won't stop selling opi because if they did, The Big Dog will come and take it anyway..

It's a great idea, however, if you recall, US presidents have stated in the past that "Oil is the lifeline of the contry and they won't allow it to be strangled"
So, i wonder what they'd do ?
PM, it's not such a big deal. It's common knowledge that the US has huge reserves of oil, but they choose to use Arab oil till it runs out then they are left in the driving seat!

In the current 'economic" climate, targeted boycotts can work. However, i would say that 'energy providers" can have more leverage.
It wont make an impact. What will make an impact is when we admit that we are all terrorists since that is what they call us and understand ourselves and stop running after this people.

Agree with you Alexa but i will definately stop going there and Mcpoo(lol baldrick)
Brit, cast your mind back a few decades. McDonalds were very vocal of their support for the IRA ....
The only time I go there now is for a McPoo!

we as individuals do what we can. No matter what people say, "every little does help".
Boycott Starbucks, because their CEO is the one of the most ardent and vocal supporters of Israel.
More importantly, Israel is dependent on the outside world for energy supplies and water. This is where it can be "squeezed' if the will was there.
If they would boycott American fast food at least they would be healthier and lose some weight. I would love to see people healthy again.
you want to do that in the frist place people are enjoying the best in life... and you want to take it away
It can'r however be done over night.
makes you realize the entire world needs one another, doesn't it?
Grant me the senility to forget the people I never liked, the good fortune to run into the ones I do,and the eyesight to tell the difference.
Did you Google it first?
how ll it possible?
