Working in Qatar is this an adequate offer

I have been offered a two year contract in Qatar, working for a major employer.

They will provide me with a flat car plus petrol and service costs and medical 48K QR pcm with an extra months salary for each year of the contract. I have been told working hours will be 40 pw with a two day wekend. How is the cost of living over there.

Pim.. it is a very good offer, believe me.

It is a salary for an Expert Director or CEO..

that's a lucky offer for you prime... QATAR AIRWAYS PILOT earned QAR49,500.00 monthly, First Officer Pilots are offered with only QAR36.500.00 monthly... and they were not provided with car yet accepts the offer... :D

If accommodation and car is provided by your employer...then 48K is a very good salary...You being single you can save good money...depending on your life style..you dont need to spent 60% for that.

Liquor from an authorized distribution center far far away, not supermarket. and there is a minimum base pay required to get a permit to buy that stuff here. i think it's 10T QR.

well, like i said, the percentages can change, depends on your lifestyle.

I am single and can't believe I will spend 60% of my salary there. The flat is ff I understand food is expensive and liquor from a special supermarket.

very expensive here. In principle, an expatriate is expected to spend 60% of pay in local currency and the rest of 40% in homecountry currency. So while the benefits do look very good, convert 40% of your base pay to your homecountry currency, and see if that's enough for you.

of course, if you're thrifty, the percentages will be different!

btw, it helps to use a comma when appropriate. for example, when i first read your post, i read it as "they will provide me with a flat car..."!!! LOL. that sure sounded like a cool car :)

good luck to you.
