Yes Fitness First has been opened for a few months now. Many classes availabe for the evenings but the morning classes are a real DISAPPOINTMENT. All the classes are very late in the morning, first class at 9.30am and second at 10.30am. Very few classes offered to morning members, also the classes are aimed at absolute beginners. I was not impressed at all at the group exercise classes on offer.

On the other hand the cardio machines and weight machines are great. There is a ladies gym but it doesnt have a full compliment of machines.

I think that once they sort out the morning class schedule things will be ok that's it they ever offer classes for anyone thats not a beginner! Parking is a breeze at CC early in the mornings and the gym is very quiet as well. Seems to start getting busy around 12.

FF is full in the evenings (5pm onwards) and parking can be a problem too, but my work sked allows me to do my workout in the mornings where the gym and the parking lot is almost empty.

Singles can enter on Fridays without any hassle, FF opens as early as 7am so just be there before 10...

It's located before JARIR BOOK STORE. Very professional, well equiped and good environment too

.

QAR.500 is suitable compare to MASSA FITNESS CENTER as they charge QAR.600 for only 28 days.

.

anyhow, guys we do need few more FITNESS CENTER as compare to current population. Many old gyms have demolished or closed down. They are replaced by such big budgeted gyms which is normall not affordable for low budget persons in Qatar

500 QR a month !! with tghis crisis, many xpats including myself could loose their job anytime (inchallah not).

They do not even offer single class fees (I think 20 ~ 50 QR ) will be ok.

For people with cars, they can still park 1 km away and do some joggimg (applicable only between OCT-April)

"large open plan area for the cardio machines along with a big space for weight machines and hand weights; a spin studio, cardio studio and wellness studio for yoga and pilates; and a separate workout area with machines for women only" must have any regular average GYM... for 40-50 bucks a month (QR 150-200), not for bloody QR 500!

Forget about finding a parking spot...Even during the working hours (not weekend, not evening) sometimes it takes 15-20 minutes to find a spot...i hate CC because of that...

As far as I know they will have a large open plan area for the cardio machines along with a big space for weight machines and hand weights. They will have a spin studio, cardio studio and wellness studio for yoga and pilates. They also have a separate workout area with machines for women only.

there are obviously separate change rooms with sauna etc

Parking will certainly be the main problem as it is hard to get a park on a good day let alone with people going to the gym aswell. Lucky for me I live across the road from there so I can walk... bit worried about when it gets hotter though.

Do they know the final opening date yet?

500 is alright but depends on what facilities are on offer, they have disadvantage of location, going there on weekend to workout is going to be a workout on its own.

goldgym is 3500 per years which is far cheaper than 6K this place will work out to be, location of gold is nice, no traffic and plenty of parking.

If they have a mixed gym than its a totally different ball game.

Sorry, Sara. I use MY as a short form for Malaysia. You raised good questions about the mixed club.

Guys, how are the other gyms running their business? Separate areas designated for men and women? Changing/locker rooms and bathrooms are definitely separate but workout areas?

Nearly all malls in Qatar restrict entry on Fridays tofamilies and females only. That means that men who are not accompanied by their wives are not allowed in UNLESS the man is Qatari or white/Western/European looking (as a general rule).

what about parking?did you even consider that?

sorry, where is MY? i just realized, do you think having a mix club for ladies and gents is allowed in qatar?

also, saw your message about friday for bachelors, im new in qatar so is it close during fridays?

Hmm.. well lucky for them. I put my Fitness First Gym membership in MY on freeze while I see if I'm parking my butt here permanently. And if parking so, I was going to cancel my membership.

/Ok.. now they better think about how to transfer my passport membership from MY then I'll join here. No doubt I can have 8 visits when outside MY but I'll be going more often than that.

//But I've bought myself some gym equipment already so, if the monthly fees are not reasonable AND CUSTOMER SERVICE is not so good, then I'll think twice.

///The other thing for FF to think about is to let bachelors in on Fridays to go to the gym... How? Show FF membership card? I'll have no problem getting in to City Centre on Fridays but ...
