I met my girlfriend at christmas when I went home. Things have started to get serious and she said about moving to qatar with me. She has a child that is not mine as well. Does anyone know the laws and whatt visa's we would need. Also do we have to be married or could she come here as my girlfriend?

Your situation has a lot of issues that will require time and effort to try to solve. I say "try" because there are times when things just don't work out. It is illegal for unmarried couples to live together in Qatar. It can be a problem for her to bring her child here if her ex-husband doesn't like the idea. It can be a real problem for a man to sponsor a child that's not his biological offspring. You may want to take some time to consider this considering you've just begun this relationship a month ago.

Depending on the nationality she caries, she can be permitted to obtain her visa in the airport that is valid for a month and extendable to 3 months.

otherwise she can visit the nearest qatari embassy and issue a visa from the embassy which permits a stay up to 6 months with no exits... during this time she should have found a job and transfered her visa to a RP under the new sponsor... regarding her kid... she can put the kid under her sponsorship as soon as she has a valid RP in qatar assuming she presents divorce or ligit certification to prove she is in custody of the child.

Sorry... But without showing a relationship of how u r connected with ur GF, there is NO go... Other than bringing her down on Hotel visa (Which can pretty much turn expensive). u can't live in Qatar without proper paperworks or documents, either a marriage certificate or should be related to you in a way that both of u have the same house name, family name etc.

Marriage is the easiest way for her and her kid to be sponsored by you.

Technically co-habiting without marriage is illegal in this country. you can get around it like people suggested above that either she can enter as a visitor or get a job, but co habiting is still illegal here..

Hope you can decide what you guys will do best of luck..

If you will make her a visit visa that is for limited period only let say three (3) months as a maximum. It is better to marry her so her stay is permanent under your sponsorship, that is, if you meet the requirements to sponsor her, as a wife.

man its kinda complicated :)

first no way she can come on g/f visa as there is no law for such.

One solution is you/she finds a job in doha privded that the job will accept sponcering the child some how.

my personal advice and if you both really thing are gona work ? then proceed with marriage :D good luck
