Traumatized driving a small car!

mlasrado
By mlasrado

I have been experiencing the "big cars" mostly pushing me off the road or cutting me off while I drive my small car. Even though I am on the right lane, a 4 wheel car will come from nowhere and suddenly cut me off like I dont even exist! They are so indifferent! It makes me feel like its a NO-NO to be driving a small car. Then why do they produce one??
Is this common around here??

anat123: Insurance doesn't pay for everything, there's always a part you pay, even for "comprehensive" insurance.

As for me, I usually can get another car without renting.

is there no low to force the motorist to pay when he hits another car and the other driver has no fault? Insurance will pay the car maintenance cost but in case he(owner of damaged car) needs to hire a car during maintenance why not the other driver(who hitted the car) should pay the hire cost for that period? Now people do not bother to hit another car because they know he has insurence and they will pay but if he himself requires to pay for hire in period when the damage car is in the garage then they will feel some heat.

I do the same thing.. I gather speed using the gradient of the hill and get my pink KIA right up the bumper of the car in front. Then I let them have it with my Xenon lights.. Boy, are they surprised.

Bleu, is that the white Land Cruiser with the QL sticker on it?

Leave all that and be a good driver never think like this every car is fine. Some people are like that u have to make a rough driver so nobody can overtake u.

LOL, Drac, I googled the exact same thing, and saw this was the only one in the UK, owned by this rather healthy young lady. She painted it pink (cost her 10,000 GBP right?) in support of breast cancer.

Darude..I think Bumper sticker will not give any good ..If they are intelligent enough to read that, they will not tailgate or bully other drivers..atleast my brother told so when I asked about putting one Baby onboard sticker.

Because of the driving habits here it is much safer to drive a big car. I've had big cars, little cars, motorcyclists (talk about a death wish) cement trucks and everything else under the sun try to cut me off, turn in front of me, merge into my lane on top of my car etc etc etc. Unfortunately that seems to be the norm here.

By mlasrado• 2 Feb 2009 12:25

Da I can also cry on cue :)

The only way to effectively keep yourself out of the police station filing accident reports is to practise defensive driving. You can never take for granted that someone would "never in a million years" turn right when they are in the left lane.... you have to expect all sorts of craziness here.

I said it a million times, driving in Qatar is an extreme sport. _____________________________________________________

Heres a trick.... wait till they are right up your backside, pull up behind a smaller car then quickly pull over to the right. Thats always interesting when they are attemping to blow by you only to see another car (Evil isnt it?)

Thanks Darude! Inspite of being on the middle or right lane, it just doesnt help. Its like an eagle waiting to catch its prey. They purposely tail gate and see that you move off the road whichever lane you maybe...

Da, I have been here too long, I have started to adopt Qatar driving habits.

I have no issue whatsoever in the Beemer, it is a little trickier in the Ford Edge, but I can still bully the smaller cars :) (Kidding guys before I get the comments :))

I sympathize with you. Up until 2 years ago I drove a sedan car, without much problem. Things have gotten worse, the driving wasnt always this bad here. I now drive a relatively large SUV as I live on a very dangerous highway. It may not make a lot of difference but the bigger car helps in not being road bullied and I feel a bit more secure with my kiddies in the car.

Expensive cars also help lol, people are scared to hit you in case they gotta pay for any damage as insurance companies here arent very reliable.
