In my views, if you will allow them to disparage your race, it's your fault. But for me if they say something bad, they'll receive twice over.

With regards to job, if you think that you are are kinda hell smart and you are not satisfied of what they are offering, reject it... to avoid animosity later on. Once you accept one thing, it's your mistake coz it's your choice. Sa? La?

and the fact that she does not see the irony in her statements.

'The Philippine community, males and females alike, are well known for their efficiency and accuracy in jobs.'

Sounds like a generalisation to me. If presented with a Filipino and an Egyptian I guess she would choose the Filipino for the accounting job as she knows their traits already...

solve the long immigration line with an EGate card...never any line and you're through faster than you can whistle Dixie...

Ya I've experienced racism. Loads of times here, in Korea and even in certain places in Canada.

Ram- That line has nothing to do with Racism, it's because GCC nationals don't need to go through the same checks as other passports. In the EU/Canada and the US, in fact everywhere I've ever been there's seprerate lines for nationals.

the Pearl issue is due to the new rulings from the country of Qatar as of Feb 1. Your visa has to be in complete order or you can't get into a club. Perhaps those folks had already been screened and found to be lacking in something in their visa..I know I saw that happen to 3 people the last time I was at the Pearl and they were turned away. I happened to have my resident's visa with me and got in.

And yes, I have been the subject of racism, reverse racism...in America. Bijoy, just because you are of Caucasian descent, trust me, it isn't a free ticket to the promised land.

Also here in Qatar...when getting served at the health center and was told I should go ahead of some Filipino ladies that had been there longer than I had...so I refused to go and made them go ahead of me.

Grant me the senility to forget the people I never liked, the good fortune to run into the ones I do,and the eyesight to tell the difference.

I can see that it will end up in an issue of 'customer service' - unsatisfactory rate again, not racism.

have you even noticed the racism that bcuz the first man is Qatari his photo is 4 times the other photos of non-local persons.

Isn't that considered as racism????

When i'm working in a company and there is a vacant in the IT dept. where i can perform better as it's my profession and get the answer from the IT Manager saying "I don't like egyptians in my department"

Isn't it racism that when u just reach in the airport you will find that the immigration office are having a special line for GCC countries while others to be dumped in another line.

Racism is around us in all forms

Why did they not interview any caucasian people , Russian, South African . We know in this day and age that racism is NOT an issue of just colour .?

There have been moments here, where I wished I had any of these:-

1. The so-called developed country passport

2. A caucasian human being appearance

3. An Arabic tongue

- to raise my salary to a decent level or talk my way out of unwanted responsibility.

I always get called a Haggis Muncher and a whiskey guzzler and other things... It really makes me sad when i see racism like this... I remember a time when a scotsman could walk into any place and get served... oh no not nowadays, now it's always "would you like some haggis sir?" or "appologies you must leave, we do not serve whiskey here."

Makes me sick i tell you...

I really need a cup of tea.

how exactly do you not put putself in a position to be a target of racism? He then goes on to make racist remarks:

"The minorities themselves are to blame for trying to be unique and sometimes they have an abnormal way of behaviour or dressing and in those kinds of situations they have only themselves to blame."

Now this maybe a misquote or it came out in a way he did not intend; or it may be a cultural thing and he does not realise that what in fact he is expressing is indeed a racist attitude and and giving it full voice.

I am not having a go at the guy, maybe he thinks (and it's cultural) that racism is only showing 'racial disrespect' to someones face.
