Need some information about AXA health coverage

Hello,
Good day. I was wondering if anybody from QP who has AXA health coverage (provided by QP) could give me some info about the following:

- In your coverage booklet what does it say about treating a Congenital (birth defect) condition? Does it say no coverage for a Congenital condition?

I was also wondering how much it would cost to get a Paediatric Cardiologist consulation?

Any answer will be highly appreciated.

Hello,

I have more updates on this. Coverage of congenital condition is not that straight forward. I sent an e-mail to AXA Gulf and got a very quick response. According to AXA GULF, this is covered, there has to be a real need for that, which makes complete sense. The words we need to emphasize on are "immediate threat to life"

According to QP-AXA policy

******************************************************

3.1 (gg) what we don’t pay for: “we don’t pay for any charges related to the treatment and/or correction of congenital deformities posing no immediate threat to life”

However we will pay for the correction of a congenital defect and complications thereof when such treatment is to prevent either immediate hospitalization or immediate threat of life. This benefit applies to congenital defects of vision, hearing, digestive system, respiratory system and other major internal organs.

*******************************************************

I guess this information will help if anybody looks for the same information just like me.

Hello,

Thank you Tracey and thank you all. I think this is brutal and QP needs to look into this matter, just not for me for the whole expat community. I am talking about a congenital condition, it is nobody's fault, and I do not know a way to back to heaven and ask God about this. If your existing condition is not covered, then this coverage is nothing but a travel insurance coverage. QP is just wasting money on it.

It is a big turn off for me. But I also found out if you're from Ontario, Canada you can maintain your provincial Health Coverage for 5 years if your primary address is in Ontario. Which gives me little relief that even if I come to Canada for treatment I will get one of the best treatments on this planet. Thanks God, I have asked this question to HR.

Now need some careful consideration and meaningful chat with my wife, if we really need to move to another country where my child will not have any medical coverage. This is really amazing!!!

Regards

We must have different coverage books then because I dug mine out and it says the opposite, "AXA will not cover medical interventions, treatments, clincal and therapeutic expenses for congenital malformities and pre-existing conditions"...maybe they have different plans for different companies. I hope so!

Unfortunately, quite true I'm afraid. AXA won't pay for any preexisting condition and I know of someone who brought their little girl here and she was born with a heart condition that needed surgery when she was about 3 months or so. They didn't disclose the condition and couldn't get the type of surgery she needed here anyway..very sadly I heard the Dad wasn't confirmed in his job and they had to go home in much worse financial shape than when they arrived from the UK. Having said that my husband and I have AXA coverage and find them okay to deal with but we don't have a sick child to consider. Hope others can give you better advice here.
