DOHA: A man impersonating as a policeman is on trial at the Upper Criminal Court for abducting and raping a woman. The accused, a resident, allegedly stopped a motorist and his woman companion after one midnight posing as a policeman. He asked them to show him their ID cards. He then pretended to call his superiors and told the couple that he has been ordered to take them to the Capital Security Department. He took the woman in his car and ordered the man to follow him. When he reached a roundabout near Corniche he purposely sped up and escaped with the woman.

Instead of taking the woman to the police station, he took her to his house and raped her threatening with a knife.

tomorrow, byebye Qatar. They turned-over me to the police, who brought me to the Capital. lucky enough the officer on duty is good and kind. After some interrogation over a cup of coffee and a tour of the prison cells, they sent me back to my place.

we yearn for a better tomorrow and tomorrow never dies...

even if he was a policeman there is rules to follow and its that we should be a bit bold to be knowing general rules.

a persons fault is a society's fault and a Nations' Shame..

Because rape her in her own house makes quite easy to point him out...

Of course people here are afraid to disagree with them. We all now how things work here, if you ignore the guy and he actually is a policeman then you get a one-way ticket outta here.

Yeah right there 'foolish. I think we should have the guts to ask for their ID's and it is our right to do such'.

Agree with you... one should not be scared to ask him to show his ID if the person is in civil dress.

when two guys in white camry stopped beside me and uttered "Police, stop" I looked back and saw they are in civilian clothes, "police my ass" I murmured. I ignored them and continued. They went out of the car and approached me. "We said POLICE and you ignore us?" I replied " you are not in police uniform, not in a police car. you did not show me your ID." the other guy said "I was waiving this (a two-way radio)", I told him that anybody can buy that thing. I thought I pissed them off, they pulled their ID's and handed to me, CID officers. I behave in an instant lol...

The point here is that, don't be afraid to ask for identities.

I think we should always knew our rights, being expat. We should always take extra precautions in dealing such as this. There were also instances of this kind whereas fake Policeman- a Qatari National, stole moneys from unsuspicious expats at their camp/ accommodation somewhere in Wakra.

omg.. my guy would never let me go and sit in someone's car...even he is a "policeman"...

... when i got into the accident, he was at the scene even before the police came, and right after I explained to the policeman what happened, my guy asked me to go and sit in my car and he held the rest of the conversation with the policeman...

but anyway, we have to be careful and at least to ask the "policeman" for his ID in case he didn't present it from the beginning...
