Finding Housing

Ryan from Texas
By Ryan from Texas

Is there any possible way to get credible information over the internet about housing/apartment rentals?

I know there are postings here, I'm not that stupid. But, getting more details about the areas is like pulling teeth. Are there any websites dedicated to rental properties? or at least a good real estate agent that has a user friendly website?

Just doing the ground work research right now.

or... could someone just give me a breakdown of the different areas in Doha, and who lives where. and price ranges...

Thanks
Ryan

Hello Veronica,

Are you still in Doha? I'm looking for a broker to show me some options after my interview Sunday July4. Please let me know.

Thank you,

Matt

Whatever you do, DO NOT trust any real estate broker in Qatar. They will steer you to only the properties they represent and take you for a ride you will never forget.

These unscrupulous individuals(along with the landlords) were the main driving force to fleecing everyone and everything insight these last few years. Try and do direct deals with landlords WITHOUT any middleman and the fees that come along with it.

If you can wait a bit that would be good. There are signs prices are coming down.Lots of people laid off from banks etc. and lots of empty properties.I know some appartments that were 11000 in December now going for 8500. My advice is to go for temp accommodation and wait for the market to fall...its coming.

First find out where your office is located

then google earth it and look at the different Doha areas nearby. It can take an hour to get around town during rush hour so your best bet is to try to live as close to work as possible. All areas of Doha are safe and relatively nice.

Well, as you can see from my name I'm American, and would like to live in accommodations at a certain standard. I am by myself so would be wanting a 1 to 2 bedroom place... Ideally I was thinking of a 2 bed 2 bath apartment. I know you can pay up to your neck in rental fees but I would like to keep it below 10k

Not worried about driving. Will be in my vehicle a lot anyway.

Does that help at all?

This guy does not live in Doha so he does not know which areas to reside in, therefore his question.

If you have family choose an area next to school. The american school is in a good area with lots of compounds close by and Villagio shopping center, Aspire and park area for exercise. Here is an interactive map of Doha http://www.gisqatar.org.qa/ExploreEn/ It takes a bit of practice to find your way around this map.

If you are single find a place next to work where ever that may be. The idea is to do as little driving as possible.

if you can specify which place in Doha would you like to reside. (Al Sadd, Bin Mahmoud,Hilal,Mansura,Muntaza,Markhiya,Luqta,Abu Hamour, etc). Then maybe some QLers w/ knowledge of what you're looking for could help you find one.

Maybe QL members can tell you what they have and what they pay.

3 bedroom villa, 10 years old, rubbish quality, near Al Sadd, 16.000 QR plus electricity and water.
