Need Advice
Heard a lot of stories on work visas being rejected by CID during change of sponsorship process. What could be the possible reason for that?. I'm planning to change job soon to a semi-government company ...will it be a risky move?!

My dear...as long as ur government is feared, holder of a western feared passport, transferring to a company or authority that is feared and can't be turned down and finally if u have the right feared connections then u'll get ur visa transferred, so the key is do u possess the right fear factors !? if so then it's transferrable.

First and foremost, I would comment that there are some well qualified and hard working Qatari's in this country.

But only some.

I have had conversation with people in government (who, of course, will never admit this in public) who are also frustrated at this blind forcing by CID of the Qatarization policy.

We all know what the problems are: those young Qataris whose parents have neglected their education and spoiled them with money, gifts and cars in a way that those of us from the West would think outrageous if it happened in our own countries, want a fancy title, big office (with sofas), company car, company cell phone, would like to start work at 10, break for prayers at 11.30, go for lunch at 12.30, back at 4, break for prayers at 5.30, and leave at 6.

If there is a problem, he wants a handful of Indians or Filipinos to blame it on.

Enforcing Qatarization without allowing the Qatari people to develop the skills necessary to handle the jobs that they are supposed to be taking over is a disaster for any company, or indeed any government department.

The development of those skills starts in school, and starts with learning to listen, to respect the opinions of others, to use setbacks and diffuclties as an opportunity to learn, and to accept the fact that not everybody who wears a dish-dash is capable of being a manager.

How many nationals have you ever seen driving a truck or a taxi, standing behind the counter of a shop, serving customers in a restaurant, cleaning the streets, digging a trench, laying asphalt, .... tinker, tailor, candlestick maker?

It is a problem that won't be solved here, and won't be solved in a single generation.

I am about to change my sponsorship for the second time, and I am also very nervous about what the outcome will be.

I, like so many others, will just have to wait and see, and accept the fact that one of the trade-offs I have to make for the high standard of living that I enjoy here, is that it can be snatched away at a moment's notice.

If a position is for Qatari why a job offer is made to a non Qatari?

n ye.. wen i askd for the name of the co., u replied two of them and told me u wer talking about govt co's. and u said MOST of the govt co's do so.. now u telling u have to go through each and every co's policies to make sure.

So, what i'm telling is, if u are not sure about the policies of the co., don make such arguements !!

I'm sure that the co's i listed above has got no policies like that even though they are semi and fully govt co's.. !!

So u agreed that u got caught up with something !

New regulations in most companies now is that if you dont get CID clearance within 2 months they will let you go. If you are going to a private company no need for this.

I have the same problem in my recent company BARWA! I was been employed as an admin coordinator for three months. After 3 months I received a letter of extension for my probation period that is jan 27, the following day I receieved a letter stating that my position is already redundant and an end of service letter was been serve. To my suprise I cried so much because my visa is expiring this march 20, so I have so little time to find another job. I talk to the management they told me that there is no problem in my work the only reason they are ending my service is because they could not change my sponsorship. They told me that they could not do anything because the immigration wont allow them to give a change of sponsorship to me. The government ask them to hire qatari for my position. I was so devastated because of the reason they let me stay working with them knowing that they could transfer my visa and now that my visa is expiring what they can say is sorry we could not do anything about your visa.Is it fair?

hello guys I'm little confused about what the same issue. When you say CID clearance does it mean "Police Clearance" or "Certificate of Good Conduct" or so?

First, My job is "Engineer" and I'm transferring my sponsorship. In my case, I already applied for Police clearance and got it, my new sponsor applied for approval from Labour Department and got the approval as well. Now I'm in the final and decisive step, which is the actual sponsorship transfer in Immigration.

My confusion is, some people say at this stage it is a systematic process, others say no they go back to CID or some other department for another security check. Is this what you mean when saying "CID clearance", I mean it is not the same like "Police Clearance" I got when I started the process?

Thanks

The Liason officer of your new company can go through Labour Dept. and check the status of your job title if its targeted for Qataris only.

My only hope is that I can transfer with minimal hassles, this topic is making me palpitate. Qatar give me three to five years and i will leave for good.

Not so Qatarisun, unfortunately 2 of my Canadian friends and at least 20 Brits have been rejected by CID in the last year, and new recruits stand little chance at all. The way around this lately has been to hire them on freelance contracts until the CID clearance comes through. I was under the same impression as you on nationality but CID is not taking this into consideration. At present, and Jordanians, Syrians, Iraqis and a few other non-GCC nationalities have actually been being served deportation papers when trying to renew RP's in government positions or trying to get CID clearance. _____________________________________________________

Semi government means QP, RasGas, Al Jazeera etc. If it is an admin job (secretary, coordinator etc) you can almost forget it. Even jobs out of Qatarization are having difficulty. Problem is you cannot go for CID clearance for a new job until you resign from the old one.

New regulations in most companies now is that if you dont get CID clearance within 2 months they will let you go. If you are going to a private company no need for this.

Good luck.....
