Hi Andrea,

My husband is from Mexico and is fluent in both english and spanish. He may be able to help and give some lessons to your children. They will learn very fast once they are in school and around other children. But if you would like for them to also have private lessons, we may be able to help. You can send me a PM if you have any questions.

P.S. There are a number of Spanish-speaking women in our group as well - from Mexico, Argentina, Chile and Spain. The latter two have children who are ~12 and also have toddlers. The first two have younger kids.

Hi Andrea -

The best way for your kids to learn English is simply to have them around other kids who speak English. Kids have brains like sponges and will soak it up quickly.

If your kids are toddlers then playgroups and activities like Gympanzee and music classes would be quite helpful. If they are older, I would suggest enrolling them in things like soccer.

We corresponded a few months ago about the mums group here in Doha. There are now over 200 families in our group - it could be a great place for your kids to meet other kids. We have all ages of kids - from infants up to teenagers (though only a few of the latter at this point). http://www.dohaexpatmumsandkids.com The Contact page goes directly to me, so feel free to ask any questions.

Best,
