Liberty Suites Hotel - A scam?

By dweller

I have noticed a number of adverts for the Liberty Suites Hotel in Doha.
Unless Doha has changed a lot in the past few years I think it's a scam.
Check their pictures out.
Doha or not?

I will be gg to Doha for a business trip early next month and my business associate in Doha has booked Liberty Suites as my accomodation. After reading this thread it makes me a little worried...

Can anyone advise if this hotel really exists and is it safe to stay there?

This thread should be deleted - regardless of how good they are, they are flooding QL with adverts which is bad practise and goes against the site guidelines.

I have now stayed at Liberty Suites for 4 weeks, and can confirm that it is a perfectly good place to stay, contrary to the above posts. Its location is good for local restaurants and shops, though the area is a mixture of building sites and 'Old Doha' - safe and interesting once you get to know it. The standard of rooms is good, well furnished and equipped - could do with a few pictures on the walls, but all are cleaned and serviced daily. The service is very attentive, and, barring a few language difficulties, beats most hotels I've stayed at in UK. Finally, the prices are reasonable and represent much better value than the 'posh' hotels. I am about to book again for my next trip, and can thoroughly recommend Liberty Suites.

They have a new website (not test) at www.liberty-suites.com , a colleague has checked it out and it seems to be OK, and I am seriously considering booking!

And no, I do not work for the hotel!

lol.

That's on a par with Muammar Ghaddafis Sheikh Spear tours featuring Ann Hathaways tent.

I lived in Al Dafna for over a year and the closest I got to street entertainment was watching from my balcony as people tried to cross the road in front of City Center!

I actually had a tour round a bit of Ras Laffan about 18 months ago. They wouldn't let us smoke or go inside the big pipes!

clearly tallg, we don't get out enough;-)

Be sure to remember to smoke as you are taking the pipeline tour:-0

It also says "Take the chances to see the biggest number of the oil and gas pipelines and wells in Ras Laffan area."

Ignoring the fact that you can't just go there and wonder around, that's the first time I've seen Ras Laffan advertised as a tourist attraction!

And where are the "street performers in Al Dafna Area". I must have missed them.

'Offices of major oil, gas and petrochemicals, government ministries and national corporations are all nearby, making journeys to business meetings short and easy (some are even within walking distance).'

'The Athletes Village for 15th Asian Games is just five minutes away and all Games venues are very accessible.'

How old is this website?

Since when did major oil, gas, petrochem, government ministries, and national corporations have offices in Bin Mahmoud? Isn't Bin Mahmoud near al saad street?

Either way, they're still flooding QL with adverts and violating the classified rules.

the address clearly shows its a test site...probably they are just testing the website before they are uploadng their photos

The fact that they flood the QL classifieds with so many adverts makes me think it's some sort of scam. The QL adverts have a contact email: [email protected]

If you look at the side name in your browser you will see that it is a test page. Goodness knows why it is appearing in adverts - perhaps they are testing their page visibility or maybe they booked the space but didn't get round to completing the site. It is owned by a lebanese web design company:

Surely it is not in Qatar. I have not seen coconut trees in qatar and such a greenery in Bin mahmoud area is a dreem i have wished for several years. This place is located near Baderiya Restaurent signal and it is a typical apartment building.

If you try and book a room it says that those dates are available and then asks for your email address. Once you submit that it gives the following message;

Congratulation, your booking information are sent to the hotel administration.

Please Call-us 00000000 at to confirm your reservation.

We will sent to you information about your booking details.

Thank you for your patience.

I haven't actually tried it, but I'm guessing that phone number isn't going to work. So if it's a scam how do they actually take the money? Or perhaps the website is just a front for the classifieds they're putting on QL.

What a scam! I've never even seen this place and I'm working in Bin Mahmoud!

What a crock of sh!te. They should be reported to the police for being complete scam artists.

Hopefully people who think about booking a room there in future will do a google search and come across this thread (which is already third on the search list if you google "qatar liberty suites"!).

I notice they advertise on explore-qatar as well. Perhaps someone should warn them that it's a scam.

numerous adverts for the hotel on QL but they do tend to disappear. Mods?

I think there were about 4 telephone numbers for it so I assume there is one somewhere but not as showing on their site.

I tried booking a room (I mean, who wouldn't want to stay there?) but came up with no prices, information or phone numbers. Weird scam!

It looks like a highly photoshopped collage of pictures, some actual, some from stock photos, all color-adjusted to the max.

In sepia color to make it look like a vintage class! LOL
