Compensation Package Feedback
I am from the USA. I will be traveling to Qatar in two weeks for a final interview for a Facilities Engineering position, I would like an opinion and or feedback on the budgetary proposed salary compensation package they are offering. Is it in line with my background, I do feel the base salary in too low, I would appreciate any feedback and/ or comments. I am married with no children so item "D" is not applicable. I have over 10 years experience in my field of Facilities Management
A)Basic Salary: QR 18,000
B)Company provided accommodation: Fully furnished Company provided accommodation including payment of utility bills (Electricity & Water).
C)Transportation Allowance: QR. 2,000/- per month
D)Education Allowance: Reimbursement of fees for education of dependent children between age 4-18 years in Doha, and not to exceed a maximum limit of QR.30,000 per child per year.
E)Annual Leave: 25 Working days per continuous year annual leave (Friday and Saturday being the weekend)
F)Tickets: Economy Class tickets + Wife + Dependent Children under 18 years old on commencement of service, on annual leave and also on contract completion to the country of origin
G)End of service Benefits: 3 weeks basic salary for each continuous year of service.
H)Private Medical Insurance for you and your family in Doha (children under 18 years old
Well, it does sound low. But I have no clue what a facilities engineer with 10 years experience makes in the US! If you can make more in the US then it is too low. It should be a top salary in your home country plus 25% or more overseas bonus. The end-of-service benefit is not something the company is giving, it is madated by Qatar labor law.

if you want to send your kids to American school. It will cost you over QR 50.000 a year plus capital fee QR 15.000 yearly. PER CHILD.
