This may sound stupid im just asking for my knowlege as im confused how exactly a radar works. Can somebody explain what happens in the bellow mentioned situations.

Situation 1
Radars on highways...what happens when two vechiles are driving parallel to each other and both of them break the speed limit at the same time. Does the camera flash both of them.

Situation 2
Radars on highways... what happens when two vechiles are driving parallel to each other and one of them breaks the speed limit. How will the radar know which vechile to flash at as there are no sensors on the roads...or there are?

Situation 3
Radars on highways... if a bus or a big trailer is traveling in the left lane blocking the view of the camera and a small car breaks the speed limit in the other lane. Does the driver get away with the fine?

thanx EMN

Well they should be calibrated as per the manufacturers requirement, as well as installed as per the manufacturers guidance. If not the judge should throw out the conviction. I dont know if anyone has tried to do this in Qatar. People have succesfully done this in other countries.

happened to me. At the camera right before the exhibition center. I was going the speed limit (80) and just as I reached the camera a car whizzed passed going over 100. We were exactly parallel and the camera flashed. I was worried, but then I remembered that the camera somehow records the speed of the car. I know this from previous violations LOL. Anyways, I never received notice of any violation, so obviously it only got the offender.

There should be lines on the ground as well so when you look at the photographs you can accuratly check which car was breaking the law.

In the UK you can ask to see the calibration certificates, lines were correct etc and if not your penalty is waived. Usually the cameras are set a little above the speed limit, but you never know!!

yeah it explain everything. That's why we will notice for some location there are 2 different cameras and other has 1 camera only. there are also mobile radar police patrol which randomly visited busy areas of Qatar.
