Accident and Insurance

Please help me by giving some advice friends!! I have an accident 2 days before with my 2005 model vehicle which has a full insurance and police declared that it was not my mistake. Later I got police paper and asked to go to the insurance office of the second party who was guilty with a quotation which shows the cost of vehicle repair and pictures of the damage parts. When I reached insurance office, they told me that I will give only 50% money since I want to repair with all genuine parts. If I want to repair with duplicate parts then the full cost can be given by the insurance. They told this is because the vehicle is 2005 model and the insurance will only give full money for repair till the vehicle is 1 year old. Is this correct?? Can anyone advise me please...

You are lucky it was the other cars fault. Mine was the otherway:-(

But what if the fault is of the other car as confirmed by police report, i.e, his insurance company has to pay.

In this case also we have to pay half the cost of original parts?

Dosen't make sense, cause assuming the other person did not have insurance. Then police will get him/her to repair my car (full cost) right!

Thanks

I think that's what you call depreciation. From where I came from, vehicle insurance, even with full comprehensive insurance, repairs are not paid fully. You even have to pay what they call participation fee.

Still being insured lessens the burden of paying for the whole cost for repairs.

I checked with one of my friend who had an accident last month,This is correct,If the vehicle is old then you will not get full money to repair. But I still do not understand, what is the benifit for having full insurance for vehicles more than 1 year old?????

this is really strange.

When they are taking full premium, why should the customer get half quality repair!

Yeah Jobby sorry to say but that's how it works :( some dude hit me at the traffic light the other day and I was hoping to get the car fixed at the dealership but the insurance company didn't allow me to do so... They want you to go to other garages where its cheaper even if there is clear evidence they won't do such a good job on the car.
