A driver in jail for ONE year for killing FOU

it's on Raya newspaper, 26 Mar 2009

A driver caused death of 4 GCC nationals and 12 camels by hitting their car face-to-face, he is to pay 10,000 QR and stay for one year in jail.

I personally find it very LIGHT for killing 4 humans and 12 camels.

What do you think??

Donkeys are stubborn, QS. It won't be so easy.

In thr UK death by dangerous driving can get 14 yrs max but rarely does - more often than not 1.5 to 2 years. Thats been for cases where people have hit and run and killed people.

lol...MD.. I have just seen your comment about monkeys..:) in this case, what about all DONKEYS on the roads? Can we get rid of them as easy as of these poor 12 camels.. ...still don't understand how it is possible to eliminate 12 camels.. must be hard job, eh?..

12 camels less on the roads. What about the monkeys?

But how can he hit & kill so many ....12+4 = 16 without speeding way over the limit....

....maybe he too was looking for a toilet...lol

bleu,

I called it killing simply of his careless driving

rami,

The camels were in the other car not crossing the street

Its light because its happened at night according to Saudi law its illegal to let camel cross the streets at night and if accident happened it’s not the driver fault

iwael, this was an accident and not MURDER...

However, if you read on, he is also liable for civil suits by the families and for the camels. If the court finds in favour of the familes and camel compensation, he could be in jail for years if he can't pay the blood money and the camel compensation.

I don't think (from what I read about the driver) that he'll be able to cover all those possible payments. That means he stays in jail unless the families decide otherwise (don't know about the camels)

Very light. He'll be encouraged to go ahead with the kills more often
