Living together when not yet married - Is this possible?

My partner has just moved to Qatar to work and is in the middle of getting divorced. Could we live together in Doha prior to getting married which we plan to do as soon as possible? Any advice appreciated.

My husband and I lived together for 4 years in Bahrain before getting married... with no problems. But then again, this is Qatar. Just be careful... and be happy.

Hi,

Mandilulur answer absolutely correct, but in here Qatar I have seen/ Witnessed 75% Pilipino community live together though they both married & settled in back home. U has to carry a risk every time, even a small tip will trigger.....

Shamils.....

Do you really know about the Filipino Community there?

Coz i really want to know if my husband is one of those 75% who got married/living together with a woman..

Please help....

You got lots of good answers. Live alone until you marry her.

When we moved into our villa in Doha, no one asked for a marriage cert, so it is possible. In fact my neighbours are two guys living together. They are straight, but decided to cut costs and move into the smae villa. if you get through imigration seperately just buy yourselves a cheap wedding ring and no one will be any wiser.

as most people on this thread have advised, it is frownded upon here but you can get away with it.

Let everyone assume you're married already. Don't tell anyone your situation.

If you're both white Western/European looking. Probably no one will say anything.

That being said, don't tick any of your acquaintances or neighbours off. Some people can get very vindictive and if they know your circumstances might (a long shot but a possibility) file a complaint. The police will act on complaints but they won't search you out otherwise.

Just don't broadcast it. It is agamst the law but so is speeding. I know a few couples in your situation and they just keep it quiet. It is not as if "big brother" is watching you, the secret is not to flaunt it.

Good luck and enjoy your time together.

It's highly forbidden staying together for an unmarried couple.

Unmarried couples living together is technically illegal, but I am sure it happens.

Afraid it's not a good idea. I'm not saying that your couldn't get away with it but if caught you'd be out of a job and deported since you wouldn't have the option of a quick trip to Cyprus until his divorce would be final. You will want to stick with two places until then for safety sake.
