it has all to do with his ethnic background, because this way he could use the laws of this land! If I wanted to get divorced from my husband, I had to do it in our homeland under the laws of our homeland. So-it comes down that he had an advantage here. Regardless that he is a spineless creature and surely uses now the kids to ensure the "good behaviour" of Marnie! Like dangling a carrot in front of a donkey.

Its not just Muslim men... its every religion and every culture and every ethnic group.

Charm is charm.... the best of us (female and male) fall for it.

Regardless of who you fall for - you have to take the precautions of the 'just in case'... why do we think prenups/antinups were developed?

In her case, its unfortunate because it involves the children not being able to be with their mother. This happens in any culture unfortunately because of the vengefulness/spitefulness of the parents.

Its a sad state... definately. But, this simply comes down to the laws of the land in this instance... little to do with his or her ethnic background.

Divorce is definately good.

She stayed with him for 3 years - separated - in different bedrooms because of her fear for the children. She also had no income of her own. This is no different than in any other part of the world where women stay with the man that beats her because she can't go anywhere else.

Step back 3 years ago... divorce the s.o.b. since she didn't consider potential consequences later on well enough to have prepared (even at the time of marriage), find a job or simply remove the children to the UK.

My bet is that there's a strong possiblity the children didn't have UK passports.. but if they did, sure enough did they get Egyptian passports... she could have simply taken them and fought the battle from the u.k. Much easier to do.

And, as for the assumption on the Egyptians (Dora, I think?)... please, lets not go there.

what makes sense vs. what is ethically right vs. what the local law is are completely different.

First off, she should have known better than to have the guy in the house. she'd been in the UAE (for what looks like) almost 10 years. Even as Westernized as its becoming, you cant take the basics for granted.

She had tea with another male in the house... regardless of what happened (sexually) or didn't happen.

And, to boot, she already knew her husband was a violent and vindictive man.... she shouldnt have been stupid enough to risk adding fuel to the fire and put herself in that situation (let along rumours from neighbors, etc.). It has nothing to do with her husband having an affair.... these are 2 separate issues.

IT doesnt make it right what the husband is doing but revenge runs rife in any divorce situation (regardless of country).

I feel for her because of her children. But at the end of this, she's a victim, perhaps, of the system just as many are (judicially) in their own countries some times.

Im married to a Muslim... there are ways around the custodial issues in a Islamic society as long as they are documented ahead of time relating to the marriage.. however, there is no way around it when it comes to breaking the law.

The Embassy (hers) will be able to do very little in this case except to ensure her well being from an humanitarian aspect. Secondly, if he relocates to the US, her chances aren't necessarily going to be shorter in resolving. She's a british citizen.

But,the chances of him potentially even getting to the U.s. at all are very slim when there will be a legal case against him which clearly will happen.

Marnie has never cheated. She had a cup of tea with a friend, who fixed her PC.

Her (now) ex-husband had bribed the housemaid to tell him, when Marnie had a male visitor.

Marnie could have left the country with her kids, when she and her husband separated. But she choose to stay in Dubai to give the children access to their Daddy. And Daddy used the opportunity to throw Mummy into jail.

she was caught having tea with a guy. Thing is, her husband had a 17month affair with an american 'lady' and used the rigid laws to get rid of her without paying any alimony and to seize custody for the boys.

Marnie has 1 week left in prison and will be than deported. It is unlikely that she will see her sons before deportation. And afterwards it's even more unlikely.

Please I would like to know how many times i have had coffee with women.... Do you talk to your wife after sex... sure if the phone is handy.... Guilty as charged

and an egyptian at that! should have done some more research before falling for the usual shyte they spout....sorry...no support here!.......
