Does anyone know the rules or limits for importing goods?
Last night I went to Aramex to collect my new lens (and other stuff) and the b******'s charged me over QR400 as Custom's Duty!
BTW did you asked them (ARAMEX) for detailed Customs Clearing costs related to your stuff.
They should provide you with that so you can exactly know what you were charged for and why you were charged.
Recently a group of friends bought some electronic on the internet and brough them via Aramex, but since the total cost of the goods was exceeding 2000 QAR then they had to pay for customs clearing.
Just check with them on clarification and ask them for full details on this.

is the tax only on new items ?
Do they use your paypal (assuming you used Paypal) receipt to determine taxes ?
Because I'm getting a few Cisco routers to Doha and a couple of models that I've sell for $10 on Ebay.
No idea about the duty, but recently I have got my binocular thru UPS and there were no duty. The price tag of the binocular was US$112.
you've to pay 250qr revenue charge for 1-5000qr priced item..customes duty depends on value/rate of the item and srvice charge 50+qr..
Customs Duty should only be 5% of the CIF value.
I bought my new lens from eBay for about qr6000.. and I've been taxed for qr600.. 10%???
