Being all movies (short, medium, long) of superb quality, which was your favourite and why?

BTW I googled the caucasian orchestra and got their webpage http://www.caucasianco.com/3.html), it has given concerts all over the world, their director is German and the musicians are of several nations from the Caucasus area although they hope to get even more nations in the future. The musician playing the bass, with such enthusiasm and passion, makes classical music and jazz get together as if they would really fit (ok, I’m not an expert but being married into a very artistic family I sort of got some right of opinion now).

Thanks Al Jazeera for this great festival!

The best movie without any doubt for me was Grozny Dream. It was very tastefully made and even when confronting the public with the reality of a rather recent belic conflict, made us enjoy the brotherhood and harmony of music. The quality of the picture and the music was fantastic, the interactive map made it also clear which are the countries of the Caucasus and why is so important that they live in peace regardless of the ethnicity and religion. The music was superb…. The last escene of the orchestra playing ‘to the mountains’ was very very touching, according to the legend the noise of a rock thrown in that area will be repeated for hundred years, let’s hope the echo of their music does the same! A movie documentary that has all to be exhibited in the best film festivals of the world. Congratulations.

In general a lot of controversy and excellent quality. A lot of food for though. Thanks Al Jazeera. Timing however is always harsh since one does not have time to see all, there were films with almost no public and films where you could barely find a seat, and not because of their quality.

I also find disturbing to see very young children brought to watch films not just with high political content but with escenes that their young minds cannot yet comprehend (well, we adults also do not understand the evil of our own hearts) and therefore not really necessary. It was also great that all movies were subtitled in English. Look forward to the next year Festival but after seeing the crowd yesterday I understand why they do not advertise it more!

Best movie I have seen: Beyond Blue and Grey (About Palestinian artists that try to make their art transcend beyond the political conflict, maybe very similar in idea to what you watched in Grozny Dreams)
