Why is it that a joke insulting athiests was left up for days, well the same joke, but with the word athiest replaced by Muslims was taken down immediately?

Is it that certain groups are allowed to be insulted while others aren't? What about all the hatred spouted on this site about Westerners and Jews, when will that be considered hate speech.

I'm getting really disappointed with the hypocrisy on this site. This is not just a Muslim site.

ok here comes our term, as a Muslim , if i read something posted from a Muslim, which is discussing other religion or any other believes , and i found that it would have insulted me if it was posted to my believes.

then my turn as Muslim, to tell that this thread is inappropriate.

The problem Fathy is that I honestly don't get insulted that easily. The probles arrises that when someone says something to me that I don't find insulting, then I turn around and say the same thing to them and they are insulted.

It's the dish it out but can't take it situation.

Anyhow. Islam does not allow under any circumstances and for any reason to insult others whether Muslims or not. Also does not allow any Muslim to judge others. It is true that the word Kuffar is mentioned in the Quran. That word is stated by God and it is not for us to stick that word to our tongues and throw it on people that we do not like or those who do not believe in what we believe.

The only thing a Muslim is allowed, is to advise/tell a non-Muslim and guide him/her to Islam. That's all. Period. FullStop.

Exactly dmigty. The point is that this wasn't a joke, it was an insult. There's a subtle difference that some need to realise. If you aren't willing to substitute the subject of a joke with another subject then it's probably not a joke but an insult.

If it was acknowledged stereotype that atheists were fools, and atheists had done something to generate this stereotype, then it would be a good joke. But that isn't the case, so it became an outright insult. Just as it was when Muslim was substituted for Atheist.

Gypsy, out of interest, would you have accepted 'infidel' in the original "joke"?

From dictionary.com:

a⋅the⋅ist  –noun- a person who denies or disbelieves the existence of a supreme being or beings.

Origin:

1565–75; < Gk áthe(os) godless + -ist

Synonyms:

Atheist, agnostic, infidel, skeptic refer to persons not inclined toward religious belief or a particular form of religious belief. An atheist is one who denies the existence of a deity or of divine beings.

An agnostic is one who believes it impossible to know anything about God or about the creation of the universe and refrains from commitment to any religious doctrine.

Infidel means an unbeliever, especially a nonbeliever in Islam or Christianity.

A skeptic doubts and is critical of all accepted doctrines and creeds.

So because a book tells you its ok to abuse/insult other religions/non religions, that makes it right does it ?

Its things that are said by people like you who give Islam a bad name in the world.

You believe in Islam, and Im guessing yer living a pious life. Good for you, but you also have to respect others who choose not to follow your chosen path.

The point of posting the joke with Atheist changed to Muslim was to prove that some people think it's ok to insult certain groups of people and not others.

Hu Wan said he would not tell a bad joke where the punchline was unfounded and insulting about a religious group of people, but thought it was ok to tell a similar joke about non-religious group. Gypsy was trying to point out the double standards.

The joke didn't work since the punchline was not based on any acknowledged stereotype or fact. It was simply an insult.

it was one or two person attacking your believes, for which i personally feel sorry and never commented.

I agree with you that MOD should have closed that thread on the day first ...

Since I know you and I felt bad that you did the same 'Stupid' thing what others were doing... which does not suits your personality.

There is an example in our language:

"If you hit your leg in the mud, you will make your leg dirty" So better to avoid :-)

I'm only one person Speed. And I was trying to demonstrate to those "one or two people" (Which are really more like a dozen people" How and Why the joke was insulting. Since they couldn't seem to understand.

Are you talking about FREEDOM OF EXPRESSION? Is there such a thing on this forum?

The Moderators of this site are Muslim, so expect that all bashing against Islam or it's followers will be deleted.

If they were Christians, expect any Anti-Christian posts to be deleted at first sight of it.

It's not because things are difficult that we don't dare, it's because we don't dare that makes things difficult!

The athiest thread was up for days Brit, and I was sick of hearing about how it was "just a joke" amazing how it wasn't "just a joke" when I changed one word.

I believe we are living in a Musilim country, not an athiest one.

Respect your hosts and maybe they will respect you.

BTW, I'm an athiest too and was not in the least offended by the original "joke".

I think that rightly or wrongly, the joke "worked" when aimed at atheists and did not , when aimed at Muslims.

Perhaps the reason is that most do not regard "Atheism" as a valid belief, so feel that its quite OK to ridicule it.

Now if you, as an a atheist, took offence, then that is your right and the mods took action to delete the posting.

They have done the same whe you posted the same joke and Muslims took offense..

Does that make sense ??? Are we Jews to be insulted next ???

respect the fact that other people may not believe in a god, without all the kaffir name calling that goes on on QL.

Contary to what you may believe, there is a whole big wide world outside Islam.

Speed I posted the EXACT same joke that Hu Wan posted, but changed the word Athiests to Muslims. He said his post was NOT insulting towards anyone. If you were insulted when I changed the words, why should I not have been insulted?

Community in general.. you should have pointed the person who offended your and others feeling.

I am sorry If any of my words have ever hurt your feelings. But truly I was not expecting you to create such thread. Coz I know you are an educated person who will never act in such a way.

To be honest those who offend others are low class category people. They don't have life so they cannot see others live peacefully.

Islam is a religion of Peace and Respect. Whoever (even a Mulsim) who does aginst his religion is not regarded as a good person in they eye of God and also he is not repected in the Community in general.

Both are now entitled "removed by mods" Da, but only because the shit throwing got to bad on the athiests one, otherwise that insulting joke would have been left up.
