Hi,

I have set up a company in Qatar and have been traveling in and out of the country regularly for the past 2 years.

My company has just started to rent a villa in west bay lagoon and my business partner and his wife will be moving there shortly.

i have recently got engaged and would like to move there full time in September with my fiance, but we don't intend to get married until April 2010.

My questions are;
1) In order for my fiance to gain perminant stay my company will have to sponsor her. However, she is a qualified teacher and would like to seek employment before we get married.Is that possible???

2)Does anyone think we will have a problem living in the same villa as my business partner for 6 months until we get married? ( pretending, if needs be, to live in seperate rooms?)

thanks for your help!

If she holds a UK passport she can come over on a visit visa (she would need to fly out every other month) but she could stay with you until you are married and able to sponsor her. Obviously it isn't legal, but it isn't like they are going to come knock on your door and ask to see your license.

The only problem is with her working. If she gets sponsored by another company they may have issues with her living with you (depends on the personal beliefs of the sponsor).

Well, you could probably get away with it but need to ask yourself is it worth the risk. You could face deportation if someone decided to make an issue of it. Why not just move the wedding up? You really don't want to start off ex-pat life breaking laws and looking over your shoulder, do you?

Just don't tell anyone you're not married yet. Many couples live together like that in Doha, even some on the locals... Unless you make your neighbour very angry it should be ok.
