HA Cup final - Rayyan or Qatar?

Wanderer
By Wanderer

Today at 6.45pm, all roads will lead to the Al Sadd Club for the final of the Heir Apparent Cup football tournament. Two top teams, Al Rayyan and Qatar SC will play in the big match.

I heard that Al Rayyan are the favourite to win the tournament. Their Brazilian coach Paulo Autori was recently voted as one among FIFA’s best 10 coaches in the world. He’s a good tactician and it will be interesting to see his game plan for the final. Rayyan had blanked the mighty Sadd 3-0 and they certainly have the edge to win the title.

Qatar Sports Club are the unexpected packages. They defeated reigning Qatar League winners Al Gharafa convincingly, 2-1, to ensure their place in the final. If their Qatar international Sebastian Quintana comes good, they have a good chance of getting an upset win.

I also heard that there are several prizes for spectators. The list includes 10 each of Toyota land and marine machines. Not much use to me (at this age), but it certainly should pull in a good crowd. The ticket rates are QR 10 and will be available from the stadium as well. It’s actually a good deal. You’ll get some wholesome football entertainment and if you’re lucky, extremely cool prizes too.

If you’re in Qatar today, go for it. The match starts at 6.45pm at Al Sadd Grounds. It’ll be a hell of a match to watch!

half the time in extra time gone. No nearer to a result. The only way out seems to be a shootout...

i may have jumped the gun. Tv replays show that the bivycle kick goal hit the side of the net. Extra time has started. This is becoming an intriguing game.

game goes into overtime, which is a shame. They should have won at least 2-0 in regular time .

Blimey, rayyan hit a stunning bicycle kick goal, but it was called offside, highly dubious decision. This was their second disallowed goal. Fishy indeed!

minute 74. Rayyan in attack overdrive. Qatar hanging on by the skin of their teeth. Qatar survives an adel lami freekick. Coordinated claps ring throughout the stadium. Its so pleasing to the ears. And now theyre whistling the stadium down. They survive another rayyan corner...

second half started. Score at 51 minutes is still 0-0. Rayyan are attacking much better, but Qatar seems to be holding on. Rayyan just missed a cool chance, they cannot afford these mistakes

Qatar got a chance in. But so far rayyan have the edge. Qatar is defending well, but their counterattacks lack punch. Qatars quintana is well marked and that has affected their attacks, minute 23

rayyan brilliant chance at minute 9. Their number 7 shouts at goalkeeper, crowd roars their disapproval. I love the way the crowds are cheering their teams on

Usually I'm an Al Sadd fan, but I'll be there, got my ticket a couple of days ago. I like the improvement that Al Rayyan has shown this season, and I hope they can secure the win that they deserve!

Also, don't forget to go to Al Sadd carpark and the Corniche after if you want to see some true celebrations ;)
