Here is an option:

You can keep the amount in your bank in UK/Your country and get your Debit card here and withdraw from the ATM, you will be charged only International Cash Withdrawal charges*

*Usually it is lower/cheaper than Money transfering fee/charge.

*You may be able to withdraw a limited amount per day.

If you have a HSBC account then you can pay a small fee and transfer from one account to another HSBC any where in the world. As you asked the cheapest way then it is bringing your cash and exchanging it yourself here in Qatar. Not the safest way but definately the cheapest as you can get the best rate if you around to find the best rate in town

SWIFT bank transfer from your bank in Ireland to your bank here in Qatar - I know in the England there is usually a set fee of around £20 to do the transfer. The Euro isn't fluctuating too much against the riyal so it doesn't really matter when you transfer as the rate isn't constantly changing.

Take a paper and pen Go into all banks and exchange centre write down and analysis. Than you know where is the cheaper. But it is also depend on how much you are going to transfer. Is it 100 or 100,000?
