Next world Cup is in 2011 hosted by India, Sri Lanka & Bangladesh.

Qatar will host the 3011 world cup after China host the world cup in 2025 :)

JackMohan will be the Cheif Guest for Qatar World Cup :)

probably for commercial reasons, they have created a presence for themselves on the World Tennis Tournament stage - so agree, why not cricket?

This is obviously NOT me, I don't smoke..

but its not really a game the Qataris are into. You wouldn't spend your money on something that doesn't interest you. Maybe they will do it for financial reasons but not personal ones.

Lucky Luciano....or the year after the next....but it will soon host...(could be because of terrorist activity in other countries).

Dubai Sports City’s cricket stadium will be the first of four stadiums

A 60,000 capacity multi-purpose stadium for football, track and field, and rugby;

a field Hockey Stadium capable of holding up to 5,000 spectators, and

an indoor arena that will house 10,000 supporters for a wide range of sports including basketball, indoor hockey, volleyball, handball, netball and ice hockey.

UAE's cricket website:

A guy called Tariq Butt is almost single handedly keeping cricket in Dubai alive, according to an interesting report in Gulfnews.

Tariq Butt, one of the UAE's leading umpires, is a passionate organiser of tournaments. Since 1989 Butt has staged tournaments in different parts of Dubai and is keen to see that cricket continues to thrive in Dubai.

"For the last 18 years I have organised cricket festivals to mark the Indian and Pakistan Independence Day. I made sure that absence of grounds does not put to an end to this tradition," said Butt, who hails from Pakistan.

....and Qatar has only Ksarat....who now has also to deal with Darude's IPL Team ;)

Qatar has underestimated the game of Cricket

It is an unique game.

It can be as short as a couple of hours or as long as a day or even as long as 5 days!!!

Cricket is also more suited for the locals as not much fitness is needed in comparision to other sports.

Qatar might realise the value after Dubai hosts the Cricket World cup next year.

The Dubai Sports City cricket stadium can hold 25,000

with the best facilities in the world. It also has unique 360 degree lighting...there by providing better visibility but also providing better images for the high resolution TVs.

Dubai is easily 10 years ahead of the rest of the Gulf.
