Hope All GCC countries to Follow..

Manama: Bahrain's decision to abolish the sponsorship system for its expatriate workforce was on Tuesday warmly welcomed by a senior economic analyst as "a bold move in the right direction."

"The decision is overall great for business and for reforming the labour market which has long suffered from problems that have hindered a genuine growth of the skilled Bahraini labour force," Jasem Al Ajmi told Gulf News.

Businesses in Bahrain have relied on foreign labour for small and large projects and used the sponsorship system to ensure that foreign workers do not abscond or refuse to work.

Even at the time of Prophet(P.B.U.H). When it was ordered that slavery should be prohibited, the Quraish(Non Muslims) start saying that if this has been implemented then who will work for them. If GCC remove slavery I welcome it as No doubt True Islamic Law is perfect, which is against slavery & no argument in order to support of "GCC sponsor-ship" as it is against Islamic Law . Allah says in Quran.

Qur'ân Al-Baqarah 2:177

" It is not Al-Birr (piety, righteousness, and each and every act of obedience to Allâh, etc.) that you turn your faces towards east and (or) west (in prayers); but Al-Birr is (the quality of) the one who believes in Allâh, the Last Day, the Angels, the Book, the Prophets and gives his wealth, in spite of love for it, to the kinsfolk, to the orphans, and to Al-Masâkin (the poor), and to the wayfarer, and to those who ask, and to set slaves free, performs As-Salât (Iqâmat-as-Salât), and gives the Zakât, and who fulfill their covenant when they make it, and who are As-Sâbirin (the patient ones, etc.) in extreme poverty and ailment (disease) and at the time of fighting (during the battles). Such are the people of the truth and they are AlMuttaqûn (pious)."

Yep, you got the point, their whole world built by expats would collapse if they gave us rights... Long live the slavery, woohoo!

beeseh, they don't 'love' slavery. Their whole economy would collapse if they would obey human rights! They can't afford it.

They've been changing the labor law at least since 2006. The only changes I've noticed were maybe 2 letters... They're never gonna change it, they love slavery and don't care about UN or anything else, the think they are superior to every country in the world...

sponsorship system is classified by UN as modern slavery, so therefore, if Qatar want to have a permanent seat in the UN, this has to be abolished.

Ive heard of this rumor almost a year ago... thyre still studyin this.

Good move.. Let's hope it works out.. I have visions of employers asking people to "reimburse" the initial recruitment costs before allowing them to leave..

I think things will change specially if the economy will be back in normal situation the move of bahrain is a single step that gcc neighbors will follow.

I don't think Qatar will ever agree to anything like that. It would only destroy their perfect system of slavery and they'd lose their power over life and death.

would be a miracle...

Its really ideal, but I dont think the locals nor the business would take it positively. But it would be a major thing for all expats.
