I quite like the answer of Bullong to find a carpenter and to do your furniture sur-mesure. From my experience not so cheap but you get what you want (well sometimes... :-)
But I have no contact number for carpenter because the one I was working with left Qatar.

$$$$ KA International (Salwa Road and City Center) for sofa, curtains - they have a very nice collection of fabrics (but minimum cost for 1 m around 180QR...). One solution you take their catalog you choose a sofa you like and you make it in Najma (you can buy 2 meters of fabrics from KA for the pillows)

My recommendation : buy a few basics from the 2 last shops Home Center and Homes r us, accessories from The One, Articles, go a week-end in Abu dabi or Dubai with a big empty suitcase and visit Ikea for curtains, accessories... (you can also send staff over in Doha but you have to multiply by 2 the Ikea price because transport is expensive)
Then save some money, sell your Home Center sofa on QL and buy the sofa of your dreams during sales (you can find very good offers during sales)

pick up the best qualitative materials
and hire a carpenter, instruct properly,
at the end...
you will be having a unique furniture at your own!
The One in Landmark and Villagio.they really have good stuff
as you are looking for european style furniture... i dont think that there are any shops for you but home center and home r us....... and that too... u may have to visit them a number of times to find exactly what u are looking for..... home r us at hyatt is good
there are many shopes in najma street,thay have cometitive prices,otherwise home centre or homes r us
