Qatar's Rapid Rise as a Networked Nation
Qatar is building a formidable standing in the integration of information and communications technology (ICT) into society, clearly marked by its inclusion among the top thirty networked nations in the world in the recently released Global IT Report 2008-2009.
The Report, which surveyed 134 countries, is released annually by the World Economic Forum and INSEAD, and serves as a global benchmark for the impact of information and communication technology (ICT) on a nation's economic climate and its international competitiveness.

What's wrong is the perception of the ICT users in this country. THAT will take too long for users to understand how to use ICT properly in spite of the already strong modern integration and supplement technology in this country.
It seems fine without competition, I say.

This is called "positive propaganda".
Qatar need to go long way still in ICT..
With such a small country with such richness it has can provide free WiMAX technology to all its population. But reality is that only QTel is holding monopoly. With no competition-customers are suffering(forget about Vodafone- I heard that they are also part of Qtel-just to cheat consumers). Mobile and Internet is still expensive in Qatar comparing with some of even poor countries of the world like India.
