Damaged hair advise
Hello there,
I have a serious HAIR problem.
My hair is seriously damaged and dry, I heard about Keratin treatment and did it, didn't really help. I know i can get that glow back with proper treatment, any adise out there? Heard that Jacques Dessange has good treatments. I do not want to cut it becuase it's originally curly and u can imagine the results when short. so i just trim it from time to time. besides, i am dying to have long hair , any advise regarding this?

Mayonnaise!! so why don't you try Ketchup!
Pitstop, can u send me more info please! thanks
nah... then end up smelling like coleslaw or salad for 3 days.
Funnily enough , I read in more than one source that Mayonnaise is good for damaged hair ...It seems that it contains all the ingredients of a hair mask!
You might have hard water which makes your hair feel heavy dry and damaged! I had this problem but as soon as I stopped using the hard water my hair felt like silk again.

Mayonaise on damaged hair is very good.
I will hoist that up the flag pole and see who salutes it!!
will that be jacques dessange
nadz, if you color over henna with any commercial die to lighten over henna (and this is anytime the henna is still in the hair, it can be a year after) you risk it turning all sorts of shades.
Henna takes the minerals from the ground that it grows in so no one is quite sure what is in it. If the soil it grows in is high in copper, and you use bleach on this henna all your hair will turn green.
Beer rinses are for shine, but I wouldnt recommend putting it on seriously damaged hair (vodka either) as it has a high alcohol content, which will further stress your hair. _____________________________________________________

haha great tip spikenbutchsmom. i also remember using vodka on my hair once. i rinsed it immediately, because i noticed my hair was quickly turning brown. but it made my hair very soft and straight, and smelled really good.:)
it in beer. NO really, I'm serious. :-) Don't know how economical it is in Qatar, but it really does work.
Yeah, that's the disadvantage about henna. You must have to wait for at least 1 month before using chemical dye on hair to achieve desired color.
Coloring with henna must also be done after perming or straightening. But the good news is, hair will far less likely to go brassy or bronze with henna unlike other dyes.
I seriously do not advise you to put henna in your hair. You cant do anything with it after henna treatment as many colors cannot cover it or may turn it weird colors.
If your hair is curly and damaged, you may be surprised to hear that you shouldnt use shampoo. Check out this site

It took me a while to get off the idea of shampoo but you will be amazed at how beautiful your curls can be. ____________________________________________________

HOPE12, go to AL MASHATA and ask for Julie. They have good treatments - I tried them. PM for numbers or more info.
At first of all, you must love your hair.

The best dye for hair is henna.
There are alot of hair treatments easy to make at home, but you must wait for 3 months to see the result.
You can also use a vitamin for hair.
ive gone from very long to skin-head,,,and i cant grow it back...
my advice is to cut hair first,,,and have a hot-oil treatment.
shoe hello.
.
there are 'IT' bags, shoes and barely an 'IT" face ( jello AgynesS Deyn)
.
the author is dying to have a long hair, doubt it if she is willing to use
a wig, lol
i think bald girls are "IT"lol,,,if you can get away with no hair,,,yet still look strikingly fierce,,then go!!!
bald it?, if you are a lady, r u willing to get bald?
Damaged hair = damaged. To have nice shiny glossy hair, u need to start afresh. The only answer is to either cut it real short or bald it.
Please visit a Loreal Professional Beauty Parlour and get your hair treated with a deep conditioning hair spa with Power booster. It works. Try it out. Curly hair needs more conditioning than normal hair and hence this spa will be helpful to you.
I cannot suggest you , which saloon..you will have to get that info yourself.
Thanks girls , these seesm helpful!
Miss X is right - when its demaged...best to cut...esp if you have split ends
coconut and aloe vera is good.
Why not try St. Ives Hair Repair Intensive Conditioner (works wonder, and i love the minty smell). Skala is also a very good product line especially if your hair is sensitive.
Natural remedies: Try coconut oil treatment once to twice a week. Also use only mild shampoo and conditioner, avoid the sun, and maintain a healthy diet. :)
Temporary hair dye is just the one that washes out in up to 24 washes (depending on the brand). The only thing is, that it will not cover grey hair like permanent dyes do.
Here is a link to one of the L'oreal brands, the mousse makes it super easy to apply, but most brands will have a temporary hair dye range available.

HOPE12!I have a home remedy for you, before
Shampooing, apply a generous amount of yogurt on your hair...you can use egg yolk also for the shine.
Thanks Panda, as i am inclined towards natural treatments
try natural treatment with Aloe vera. you can find the receipt in the web for hair care.
MissX! tell me more about "temporary hair dye"
You said "the rinses are known to make hair extra soft and shiny, and smell great too".Please tell me how?
Well you can use a rinse that is the same colour as the one you dyed it. It really does add extra shine. Using permanent dyes is probably the reason your hair is looking a little dry at the moment. Scalp treatments and oils will only help the new hair that is growing, not the hair that already exists. The rinses I mentioned are the only thing that actually stick to the hair for a long period, as the oils and treatments will be removed the next time you wash your hair.
Thanks for your advise. the problem is that I just changed my hair color...I read a lot about oils and scalp massage and stuff...but I am sure there are treatments that can- as you said- improve the appearence. I really don't want to cut off a lot, I want it to grow long...so I just trim from time to time.
To be honest there is nothing you can really do to hair to reverse any damage. Hair is made up of dead cells, and therefore can not ever repair itself again, no matter what you do to it. The only place the hair is alive is at the root where it connects to your head. The best you can hope to do is try and improve the APPEARANCE of your hair, so that it doesn't have such a dry look about it.
I have 2 suggestions to you.
Try and cut off as much as you can, although your hair is dead, if your hair is splitting, then cutting the split pieces off is a way to try and stop the split from moving up the entire strand, as well as removing parts of the hair that are making your hair look dull and dry.
The second suggestion is to use a temporary hair dye, one of those rinses that wash out after 24 washes or so. You can buy one the same colour as your hair if you do not wish to alter the colour, but the rinses are known to make hair extra soft and shiny, and smell great too.
