Power Output can be thermal or accoustic. The question is also at which speaker impedance. What is the signal/noise ratio? What is the interference between two adjacent channels? At which load (in Ohm) does the headphone output produce +6dBm? What is the value for harmonic distortion?
You see, you gave me sales arguments but not technical specs. I think you will buy a great oven (12300 Watts).
I had had my share of mini systems over the years but around 10 yers ago I took the plunge and gave away a lot of cash for a Bose speaker system and the Yamaha DSP-A1. Back then this was the absolute state of the art machine from Yamaha. 10 years on and I still have the entire system and it still sounds just awsome. I have added a couple more subwoofers to the system (the DSP-A1 has the outputs for this) and when the need calls for it, the system can scare unwary people.
If you are serious about your sound, then as Nice guy said, get seperate components. I heard the sound coming from just two tower speakers at Techno Q (they were B&W, and quite honestly, they blow my system to pieces.
In the audio/video world, you get what you fay for...
Before buying the system I would go to TechnoQ www.technoq.com who have Polk Audio/Boston Acoustics/Denon and also Barzan Digital www.barzandigital.com with KEF/Arcam/Pioneer
You will get much better sound out of a separate receiver and speakers than with that Sony system and also the Polk/Boston/KEF speakers sound much better.
I did the same search over the past week and been to Video Home (LG) as well.
