Drunk in Public...?!

Pardon another stupid question on my part but I am just trying to cover all the ways that I will possibly get myself into trouble over there before finalizing the decision to move. I heard somewhere it is illegal to be drunk in public. Soooooooo, let's say I go to a hotel bar for a few drinks on the weekend and have to hail a cab afterward, and I'm WASTED, can I get arrested for that??? I hope not... :$

I believe you are a responsible person,in that way, you know what is right and what is wrong because living in other country is different than living in your own. Remember, this is an arab country. Don't put yourself at risk. Be careful. Learn more about Qatar Laws.

The word "WASTED" reminds me of high school.

"Yeeaaaah, dude, we got so WAAASTED, maaaaan!"

There's drunk, then there's drunk and stupid. I have been known to imbibe of the black Irish drink, in moderation of course, and sometimes to excess, but so long as you quietly get into the cab and go straight home you will have no problem - No kebabs on the way home though - order in a pizza!

Will she really get arrested? I don't think so - provided she doesn't get into trouble and bring unnecessary attention to herself - like a frolic on the beach like that dumb couple in Dubai and end up on the front page news of the Gulf Times. That would ensure she's arrested and deported.

If she's not driving but taking a cab, which is the responsible thing to do - that should be fine. But I would suggest that she doesn't go alone after being inebriated but rather have a pal with her to get her home safely .. maybe Flan boy over there would volunteer.

Hmmm. I guess you can't be arrested as long as you don't create trouble or disturb others.
