WODO's
As an Expat who has lived here 4 yrs I believe a new Acronym should come into the expat vernacular and indeed even local terminology. I have also lived in Kuwait and it could equally apply there:
Thobe/Abaya = Uniform
Toyota Landcruiser = Uniform
Thobe/Abaya(Uniform) + Landcruiser (Uniform) = WODO
WODO = Wears One Drives One
Too many crazy WODO's in Qatar.
Aww don't get mad popcorngirl. Everyone's a WODO after all. There's people driving 4WD's that aren't Landcruisers, they're WWODO's - Wannabe Wodo's. There's Westerners driving 4WD's that aren't Landcruisers they're WWWODO's, Western Wannabe WODO's. Celebrate the WODO within each and everyone of us I say!!
deedee, When I see a Qatari without his Ghutra on, It's usually "WOW!!! He's bald!!!". Yes HH has hair, and it's natural.
in the newspaper in Western clothes I am always taken back. My impression is always "Wow he has hair!"
