People Need To Stop Tailgating In Traffic
Today,24.May.2009/ 06.30 am

I as most other people on the roads have been in the slow lane of traffic and seen the headlights of 2 cars coming up from behind in the fast lane out of our rear view mirrors.

Well we also notice that the guy in front is basically going 5 Kms/h or so "over" the speed limit and not breaking the law, but the a-hole behind him keeps pushing his way up that front car's rectum and the cops don't do anything either by the way....
.
My question is Why do people drive like this or Why do the cops not do anything in more of these cases instead of stopping speeders that are in the front car just trying to get out of the aggressive person's way?
Any one who is in the back car in this story please explain to everyone what is going on in your head?...
...please so we can understand...
...and if any have been in the front please tell your story and what you think was in the person's head in the car behind you, or you can tell us what wasn't in his head also if you want....

P.S. My definition of tailgating in traffic is either when a car is too close behind you in the same lane as you or when a car is coming up really fast behind you while you are in the slow lane and they for some reason have to wait for the last possible second to MERGE OVER EVEN WHEN THERE IS AN HOUR BEFORE THEY GET ON YOUR BUTT TO MERGE OVER......why? ....is this a control issue for the people who do this?

Speed limit varies. 100kmph is just one speed limit.
My point is, imagine this scenario where you are late to work, the car(need not necessarily be a 'small car') in front of you in the fast lane is being driven at speeds below the max speed limit and he wont change lane or give way. What would you do?
And 1 more thing, I've been tailgated by all kinda vehicles ie. sedans, pickup trucks, hatchbacks, small cars; its not just LCs. I remember 1 time I was tailgated by a lady in a sedan!

Why does this occur?
Many stupid people dont understand the lane system.
Fast lane is for people who are in hurry; There are two other lanes for snails and turtles. If you are not in a hurry, use other 2 lanes and avoid getting tailgated. Simple!
I'm not justifying tailgating but accidents can be avoided one has an understanding of the lane system.
We are not just talking landcruisers here, but anyone who tailgates.
I don't think much goes through the mind of a tailgater because he/she must be moronic. They assume that only THERY have the right of way and others are just "Sunday Drivers"..
I agree that Police should do more, but then the Police cannot be everywhere.
these people are out of mind! i had an experience that i was in slow lane when this junk punk Arab guy blinking his light on me one more scenario is that salwa road is 100kph limit and one slummy brain guy doing the same shits on my back. i know I'm right by that time so i stayed in my place and let him blink his headlights in the end he shifted to another lane.for police they themselves do the same shits sometimes when their on their private vehicles!

I was amazed to see last week on my home, that a Landcruiser was flashing at a Traffic Police vehicle on the corniche, the Traffic Police kindly obiged to the L/C demand.
Should the Traffic Police here be really taken serious? I was effecking annoyed that the police let these bad drivers get away.

Tailgating causes as many accidents as drunken driving.
No surprise there!
Cars CANNOT stop on a dime, and the loser who is riding the bumper of the car ahead will hit the car in front if that car has to stop suddenly - oh, for instance, if a child runs out into the road, or an idiot pulls out of a side street without stopping..
(WHY DO THEY DO THAT???)
Tailgating is THE most preventable cause of accidents!
Al Khor road is bad with this - much worse than North Road (Al Shamal) where I go frequently.
Up here, you can't drive a 1 km. - if you're going the speed limit - without some self-centered banana-brain right behind you.
And it's not just here - went up to Dukhan a while back and couldn't go anywhere without a tailgater -- these idiots tailgate on hilly, blind-curve single-lane roads - even in the dust storm for pity's sake!

Funny thing its never about the land cruisers only, I was driving a friend's nissan xterra doing like 100kmph on a 100kmph road in the fast lane when i was getting flashed by a tiny toyota corrola must be 2002 model. I looked at my rear view and went "YEAH RIGHT". I'd have given him way if i wasnt nearing the signal, but then again I'm in a big car so he can just smell my car's butt all he wants.
