I would like to mention some common Arabic and Qatari sayings:
1. Those who can not reach the grape they will say it is sour.
It is said when some people when they can not achieve something or do some thing they should do and they could did no do it.
2. Who went with out an invitation will sleep without a blanket.
It said in many ocasion for example if you to the wrong class room there might be no place for you.
3. The good one is good even if he did not wash his face and the bad one is bad even if he washed his face.
It said in many occasions and it is only for humans
4. Who dig a hole for his friend will fall in it.
It is said when you want to trap some body close to you, you will be in the trap not him in most cases.
5. Who knock the door gets an answer. (Not always nowadays)
6. Who asks will not be lost.
7. Hit the steel when it is hot. (Because you can form it right away)it said when there is an opportunity to correct something.

- Examine what is said, not him who speaks.

- A horse of good breed is not dishonored by their saddle.

- Live together like brothers and do business like strangers.

- The son of a duck is a floater.

- Take wisdom from the wise, not everyone who rides a horse is a jockey.

Hey nice sayings...its strange that all these sayings in all languages are almost the same... we have proverbs in our languages which gives almost the same meaning...:) thanks for sharing.

I can relate these with English too..

it means no matter.. if you clean your act or not.. a good thing will remain good and a bad thing will remain bad..

let me put it in this way..with an example

no matter how you cook your food with lots of butter in it.. if you add butter then it will become high calory food.. even you add butter on top.. or add it melted.. or add after smaring..

winner never quits and quitter never wins.. does it means that only one person will win all the time?

its probably about the physical appearance... like if ure really unattractive, no matter what u do or wear, you'd still be unattractive. while the other one is vice versa...
