IE 8?
By Mandilulur •
My comuter is showing me a little yellow update shield and is asking me to install Internet Explorer 8 (I have Windows XP.) I did successfully install IE 7 about a year ago, but am very wary of doing anything new that could create connection problems. Anyone have any experience?
Mandi
I'm still finding my way somewhat gingerly around IE8. But an e-bay add-on sounds irresistable.

Hi Mandi,
Glad to hear you downloaded and like IE8. Have you checked out these cool add-ons? Thought you may find them useful since you enjoy shopping – http://www.ieaddons.com/en/shopping/.
Thanks,
Feran
Thanks, all, I downloaded and installed it and it seems to work although I had to follow the instructions to disable an "add-on." Can't see much difference but I LOVE to shop on-line so the added security is a good thing. I really have to get up my courage to download Firefox or Safari as a back-up browser.

In your dreams... what good will that do to the poor labors here.
I prefer Firefox

Hi, this is Feran with the Internet Explorer Outreach Team. As long as you meet system requirements you should have no issue upgrading to IE8. IE8 is a more secure and reliable browser. You can read more at the IEBlog - http://blogs.msdn.com/ie/ and check out these reviews regarding its security features - http://www.pcworld.com/article/161587/is_ie8_actually_safer.html

Also at this time if you download IE8 from http://www.browserforthebetter.com?ocid=ie8_sm_a Microsoft will donate 8 meals to Feeding America.
Thanks,
Feran
Mandilulur ....time to delete the big "E" from your desktop!
Download and install Firefox from here:
http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/personal.html
If you already have it go to Tools - Options - General - system Default and click "Check Now".....to make Firefox default browser.
(Dumb question) How do I switch to Firefox?
Mandi
they say when you install IE8, you wont be having problems with key ports especially if you use Windows Live Messenger. Better yet, switch to Firefox. good luck
Second DR - use Safari or Firefox.

Grr, I hate IE7. It eats memory like there's no tomorrow. IF IE8 has resolved this problem I might consider it. Even as I type, I find I can no longer 'right click' and will restart it after I hit 'post'!
Infact, it will automatically replace you settings in IE 7 IN IE8. I have done it previously without any problem. GO AHEAD u may update it
I use IE8, google chrome, and firefox dont ask why :p
